  1. I'd have Laine+Demidov on the 1st unit over Bolduc and either Slaf/Caufield.

No offense to Slaf, but he has no business being on the 1st unit if he isn't playing net front.

  2. PP2 ‘s biggest issue is that Laine & Dobson have yet to release a good shot on net.

Dobson flubbed on a nice one timed opportunity

    Laine missed on 2

Could be they just need reps

It’s early in season, playing other NhL PK’s that scout you is a lot different than running drills in Brossard

Not worried about Hutson, I do agree teams are targeting him physically and scouting him, he’ll adapt and overcome it’s what elite players do.

    Love Bolduc !!!

him and Gally have something going Dach is looking quick out there, his confidence is growing I like that line balance wise.

I’m not a fan of Newhook with Kapanen and Demidov yes they have gotten points but I would prefer Andy there cuz guys are roughing up Demidov a bit too much for my liking, Andy also provides a better & heavier F1 role

    Andy – Kapanen – Demidov

    Laine – Evans – Newhook

    I do like

Bolduc – Kapanen – Demidov or

    Bolduc – Dach – Demidov

As we have yet to see Dach – Demidov without Laine who is the biggest anchor so far at 5v5, Laine is backchecking more and slowly starting to have better puck control in offense but, should not be catering to Laine, he is not the future

    But Andy offers better protection

  3. future stars? Demidov is being buried with a plug named Newhook and and Gallgher on pp2 lol. his rookie class is getting primetime minutes and surrounded by size and skill. MSL is going to destroy this kid if he doesn't get him away from those plugs.

  4. You guys out here scratching your head , all confused on why the 2nd power play wave isn’t working? Do you guys actually watched the games ? Beside demidov , nobody else moves on that pp, everybody is stationary, Laine is un creative and never moves , he’s predictable and so are the other 3 players on that wave 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ it’s clear as day , go watch the games! Laine kills more pp chances than he produces on them . But StLouis isn’t adapting either ! Like FFS ! You get 11 pp and your second wave doesn’t do shit than adapt and switch players off of it ! Why wasn’t Kapanen given a chance ? He’s constantly moving and scored in his two first games , why wasn’t he rewarded? But Laine and his 5 giveaways didn’t miss a single beat!?

There’s players who don’t belong , Laine is the obvious problem who’s holding this team back

  5. Negativity…. Negativity all day long with the comments from my fellow Habs fans. So annoying…..why not talk about the amazing back check effort from Demidov, why not speak how Demidov was mixing it up in a crowd of Hawks players defending his teammates??? I loved watching him last night. The kid has played less than what? 15 games in the NHL and he is being wasted by the coach?? Bla bla bla….get it together whinners !!!!

  6. I said it on here during pre season , multiple times . The losses of Armia and dvorak will hurt everyone’s production as Suzuki’s ice time will be different , he’s forced defending so this has a snowball reaction on all the other lines , so Montreal needs to build a third defensive line that has speed with two guys who can take faceoffs , a lefty and a righty

Newhook-Evans-Anderson should be the 3rd shuddown line , these guys are extremely fast and than you’d have Evans and Newhook for faceoffs. Having Veleno instead of deadbeat Laine in the lineup would really help

Laine and Gallagher are too expensive for what they bring , the day Montreal get rid of these two , they’ll become an imidiate contender. The habs are paying Laine 8.7 for 2 minutes of power play per game where he constantly fumbles and coughs up the puck and Gallagher at 6.5 for 30 pts a year🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

    Most ideal power play line

    Suzuki-cole-demidov-Dobson-Hutson

Who gives a flying F about the second wave , how self centered and delusional do you have to be , to EVEN think about the second pp wave when your first isn’t even scoring 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ creativity and movement and a good shot from the point is needed on the power play ! Nobody fears Montreal point shot and it makes it easy to defend against predictable stationary pylons like Laine and Slafkovsky

Make that first wave play for a minute and a half on the pp and give guys who deserve time based on their latest contributions on that second wave, talent on the 1st wave and merits on the second wave . This will create competition and expose hard workers and players who don’t belong

  7. Newhook needs to go , laine is also on the block depending where there at at Christmas, kapanen is 3erd or 4th liner , i would put bolduc dach demidov on the same line , newhook replace bolduc , kapanen replace dach , WE NEED A REAL 2END LINE CENTER !! kadri , maybe pageau i havent looked at all the teams yet but i know your not eating with lord Stanley with kapanen or newhook and possibly not with dach or laine , but we have a model of wingers we need "bolduc " and no valeno is not a real option all these guys are none consistant , florida is good not the best talent but extremely consistant !! You have to want to win period , a career is very short !!

  8. Ten powerplays
against a last place team and so much difficulty just to win a game…..the OFFENSIVE coaches need to be replaced

  9. I'll say it again, hold off on the contract for Hutson. Teams have shown they are adapting to his play that has affected the PP. Wait till the New Year and see what success he has.

  10. There is something off with Hutson. He’s looks REALLY good in our end but the things that make Lane who is haven’t really happen yet. Not concerned at all this early though. Hes easily the smartest hockey mind on the team.

  11. 😂😂 wrote my first comment before hearing marco say the same thing 😂 hilarious !! I see them winning all there games next week , they have to establish themselves now at the beginning of the season !!

  12. Call a spade a spade Habs need coaching help and allow some players to play on the edge to open up space this coaching staff is not the answer

  13. Bolduc or Slafkovsky should be with Demidov and I’m ok With Kapanen being a poor man’s Suzuki for now. Remember when Suzuki first came to the Habs he was projected as a 2nd liner. I like that Kapanen is defensively responsible.

  14. Everyone needs to chill. 2 out 10 power goals is a 20% success rate. Not great, but not awful either. It will get better over time with a few tweaks.

  15. Reinbacher vs Matheson for a trade. Sorry as much as I like Matheson age comes into play. Also Hutson on the left side vs the right will compensate for the loss of Matheson.

  16. Maybe I’m just an apologist but what I saw is a team that will be lethal when it clicks. They’ve played three games. They’re gonna be good. Relax.

  17. having 2 power plays is making it harder. let one line play the full 2 min advantage. next avantage let the second play the full 2 minutes. to me hard to stop the play to change lines often. so why be so stubern to play 2 power play in a 2 min time frame? or take the best of the 2 and go with them?

  18. Will you guys stay at McLean's for the game on Oct. 22nd? I'm not sure I can make it there in time for the 7pm-8pm hour, and I'd love to chat hockey with Shaun in English and with Marco in Italian! haha 🙂

  19. hey teams now know who Hudson is and can do so they have and are developping ways to neutralise laine Hudson. lets tell the truth here. Some night Hudson will shine despite the tactics but some nights hudson will be countered.

  20. Young team. Immature and inconsistent is part of growing. The build is still a work in progress. MSL has 80 games to figure this out.

  21. I'm not concerned at all about the PP. They will get in the groove soon enough. Laine better get it going tho, as he remains useless in all other situations.

  22. I don't know which company makes the hockey sticks the HABS are using, but, I think these sticks have built-in failures so they can sell more sticks. These sticks have been failing a lot over the last few years. Who in the NHL governing community is making money off of these stick sales contracts. Someone has to be because it is evident that these sticks have not been of good quality for a few years and it is spoiling the game! Wake up Bettman and FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!

  23. Guys. Please. If you spend ten minutes on the post play. Don’t take it as your first question. Good lord. Snore.

  24. Wow first goal was goaltenders fault look where he was in the neck and look at the angle you guys are lost if that was not the goaltenders 6 in was not even covering any net he was on the outside of the post

  25. ive been enjoying hutsons playing so far & he is playing very well to me & actually seeing some good d from him ~ his dancing around zippity do style along the boards always gives me a laf giggle & ~always like watching what he is up to ~ hes still doing his thing & it looks great to me ~

  26. If Slaf is going to play the perimeter or a passing role on the PP, they need to slot in Demidov instead. But a Slaf in front of the net, I am all for it.

  27. Marco you’re pronouncing Kapinen wrong. The player has stated how he wants it said. Please adjust. Thanks

  28. Yes, they don't make it to the playoffs without him last year, but there's no drive, no puck chase, no back check from Laine. He doesn't fit the system or the culture that the Habs have tried to build even on the Powerplay.
IMO it should be : Bolduc – Dach – Demidov; Demidov get time with Bolduc which I agree would be a good thing, Dach gets an Lefty to take his draws and a real shot at producing like a 2C
Newhook – Kapanen – Gallagher — Newhook brings speed with the puck, Kapanen brings Hockey IQ, and Gallagher brings drive to the 3rd
Anderson – Evans – Veleno — Great shutdown 4th with some speed and talent

Send Laine to the pressbox or packing. He's too one dimensional and opposing teams know it. But I'm just some guy, haha.

  29. For the time being, my first PP would be the line of Suzuki, Dobson and Hutson at the blue line. Second PP, Dach with Bolduc, Demidov, Laine and Matheson at the blue line.
