This was NASTY…

Beckett Sennecke put on a show for the Anaheim Ducks with a nasty goal and a huge hit on Will Smith in a 5–2 preseason win over the San Jose Sharks. Sennecke, Ross Johnston, and Ryan Poehling looked like a potential fourth-line combo, while Johnston once again provided the “protection.” Pavel Mintyukov took a big hit from Ryan Reaves but stood his ground, later bouncing back as one of the Ducks’ best defensemen. Olen Zellweger even got some time at forward with Nathan Gaucher out, picking up his first-ever forward assist on Yegor Sidorov’s empty-netter. Despite the win, issues remain with the Anaheim’s young defense—Tristan Luneau, Tyson Hinds, Ian Moore, and Stian Solberg all had struggles—while the Ducks’ tendency to let teams back into games continues to be a concern heading into their final preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. #hockey #nhl #anaheimducks #sanjosesharks

  1. lets not forget that Sharks had almost their full opening day roster (and its just a preseason game)

  2. Honestly I'm not surprised about Zellweger adapting well enough to being a forward in spots like that. Going back to his development in the WHL and having watched him in Silvertips and Blazers games i always felt like he had that kind of skill in him. Happy to see him getting to try different things.

  3. I've always thought Zelly would be killer as a forward given his size. Don't know why because they're styles are worlds apart but he reminds me of Teemu.

  4. Each game they look better. This is promising. I also like that coach Q said post game we can’t rest in the 3rd like that.

  5. While i can't say i dislike actually taking leads and putting on the gas, they gotta stop letting teams just walk back into the game in the 3rd, my heart won't be able to take 82 games of that.

  6. Locked on ducks did notice that zellweger has been killing it in practices looking more confident than ever before. Quinville has probably noticed the kind of skater he can be and has given him complete freedom to skate how he wants vecause they see his potential. I won't be surprised to see more plays like this from Zelly. 🎉
