On December 11, Quebec Sports + Entertainment Holdings, LLC, a Quebec City-based group headed by Pierre Karl Peladeau, Guy Laliberte, Gilles Ste-Croix, and Luc Poirier, will pay an expansion fee of $2 billion to award an expansion team to Quebec City for the 2028-29 NHL season and on July 23, 2026, the new Quebec City expansion team's name, identity, and branding will again be revealed as the Quebec Nordiques, who will play at Videotron Centre in the 2028-29 NHL season.
