Hampus Lindholm Injury Update | Big Bad Bruins?

The Boston Bruins are off to a strong start, but is it because they have brought back the Big Bad Bruins? Hampus Lindholm left during the first period of last night’s game, and Strum gave an update on his status.

I talk about all of that in the latest episode of Bruins Diehards.

  1. Some thoughts after the first 2 games:
    1) Fraser Minten …. this young man could have a significant future with the B's. Very impressive.
    2) Elias Lindholm looks very engaged in these first 2 games and could be a continuing key to the success of the 1st line.
    3) Mason Lohrei and Andrew Peeke have both been impressive in these first 2 games. Lohrei is more consistent on defense without sacrificing his offensive capabilities and Peeke has been a 'steady Eddie' defensively.
    4) Surprises: A) Casey Mittlestadt and B) Michael Eyssimont – Both of you keep up the good work!
    5) Let's see how the next 5 games go (Hopeful).

  2. there was a play where he stretched out trying to keep the puck in the zone and he spun around stretched out like a groin or hamstring.

  3. I wouldn't mind if you did a post game recap the day after or something for the games this season. I think it would be more interesting insight than other channels as a bruins focused hockey fan.

  4. I actually watched some Vancouver highlights, namely Pettersson's boarding penalty…but Jake DeBrusk's hairline is receding nicely.

  5. I never wrote them off!!! I've been telling everyone who will listen the Bruins are WAYYYYY underrated. I know it's early but I'm feeling pretty validated right now.

  6. To continue winning they must put more shots on net!! Against Washington they averaged 7 shots on net for 21 shots!! That is not good enough when they play really good teams!!

  7. 8:45 Pump the brakes at least a little bit, Court. 2–0 is a great start, but the Bruins have a lot more to prove before we can seriously talk about them as a 2026 postseason team.

  8. 14:22 For what it’s worth, in sports medicine, a “stinger” is a term used to describe a jarring injury to the brachial plexus (nerve bundle that supplies the shoulder and arm), typically caused by trauma to the upper lateral chest, collarbone, and/or armpit.

I’ve never heard the term “stinger” used for a lower body or knee injury, but maybe it’s a jargon term within ice hockey culture, specifically.

  9. What the F ? I never and dont believe everybody wrote them off before the season started . Speak for yourself bud .

  10. I concur that they need to be tighter in their own zone (perfect example is the pass getting through to Bedard). I’m with you that the d zone coverage will improve.

The frequency of the undisciplined, selfish penalties need to decrease (especially by pasta and Mcavoy, etc).

A nit of mine is watching 73 and 91 getting out of position (fading onto the wrong side of the ice). Stay in position and take the body. Continuously.

The brightest spots from my perspective is the goaltending and the PK. The PP needs to improve. I’d like to see less of 73 and more of 6 on the first unit.

The top players for me are Minten, little K (92), Ard (71) and Peeke. Outside of the obvious (88)

One of the keys for me is if the second line (18/11/71) each can get to the 45-55 plateau, I think we make the playoffs.

  11. I agree with you on the Pasta penalty. But, you have to admit he retaliated against the high stick to the face which wasn’t called nor was it called when Pasta was literally tackled in front of the ref and another no call. I thought the call on Mac was BS. You can clearly see Bedard was holding his stick. I believe the PP will come around and the PK is 8 for 8 on the kill. They’re actually clearing the puck and not icing it while doing so. I can only see them getting better.

  12. Two wins to start is nice, of course. Sold goaltending and penalty killing. But, 21 shots on goal over 3 periods in game 1 is hardly impressive .. and I'm seeing problems in transitioning from defense to offense. Still, its just 2 games ..

  13. This team has a few similarities to the 2011 team. They had a few names in the top two lines and the bottom six were there to grind you into the ice. (The Merlot Line). This team is slower than in previous seasons and I agree with you when you say that the key players have to remain healthy and play a significant portion of the season. So far both goalies look confident, the defense is good for the most part and the new names are showing up on the scoresheet. Yeah…it’s only two games but I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far, especially against the Caps. I think this team has the potential to make the playoffs if a lot of things go their way. They’ll be fun to watch and the other team will definitely have some bruises afterwards. Marco has them on the right path.

  14. Great post. Thank you. A lot of things I've looked pretty good, especially the goaltending. I have to admit Arvidson as much faster than I thought.
Elias looks better than I remember. The only thing of a critical nature is how many times geekie flubbed a really good pass from Pasternak or Lindholm. What about Arvidson or Eysemont on a line with pasta and Elias Lindholm??

  15. This is the style of hockey I have wanted for years. It was fun to have the jail break offense of Montgomery but when your top defense man is your goalie it couldn't hold up. Nice to see they did not collapse in the closing minute like they did 20 times last year. 20 times. That is 20 points.

  16. It isn't often that a 1st line, big-ticket free agent acquisition could be a 7th Player Award nominee, but I am hoping E. Lindholm exceeds the (albeit lowered) expectations this year. He looks like a completely different player so far.

  17. Wow – look at these comments – what a difference a couple of weeks make!

Let's hope these fair weather fans get steady on their feet!

Yeah this is what Cam was looking for.. difficult to play against using pyss and vinegar, it will sell tickets, until we develop the pipeline.

👉 but it's also going to test our defensive and bottom 6 depth

-there's going to be injuries playing this style.

And I wondered how some of these swedish players are going to do playing a more physical style

NHL has never seen this lineup in Boston before – now they've got highlights to study this new team,

I expect we'll keep winning a few more games and then it's going to hit diminished marginal returns when the opponent's coaches start catching up.

this is when it counts – can we adjust to our opponents adjustments?

I never had a problem with Tanner.

figured Chara would get involved, help out Zadorov.
Who is responsible for that overtime goal, he took two players down with him… a Tom Wilson move!

    Seriously worried about Mason Lohrei
Wish he could have gotten another year in the AHL

As I predicted, I love kuraly but he is slowing down his line, being called for offsides – let's hope their chemistry kicks in..

I think it was Bob beers mentioned on the audio, that Bruins scouts would not let that Brando deal go through unless we got Minton. I don't know what the target was, the first round pick or Minton – it sounded like the pic was the first priority.

Now we know why they insisted on Fraser

We're going to wait till they all come off of their pink bubble, Bruins is one of the younger teams in this league now as far as knowing each other &
    Chemistry.

We'll see how they're doing by Halloween

Great start -can see the coaching throughout the game, the readjustments,
    Sturm is employing
    Leach, Spott

Luckily this game was against Chicago because this could have been ugly…when pasta started off with that slash?
We knew this game was going to be a puck show.
also one potential reason why we might not want him captain.

    Let him play

We'll see if we can stay healthy.

    Great video

  18. As teams start having film on what the Bruins are doing and start attacking weaknesses, we will see if they can keep it up. I would rather be 2-0 than 0-2, so good start.

  19. Great start, my concern Bruins hockey was not letting Tom Wilson run amuck the other night. Lack of physicality.
You are correct 10 games and we will see the lines gel or not … Loving Fraser Minten….Lindholm has till December as far as I am concerned, needs at least 10 goals playing with Pasta… Swayman has no excuses, been paid, now play up to that level.

  20. The one thing I’ll say is this team will give max effort and intensity every night. Interested to see how they hold up when the rest of the teams ramp up their intensity over the next couple weeks.

  21. That was a good podcast with Evan @ Bruins beat.
    Rask 👍
    Backes!
Did you hear his radio interview?
Because you pretty much nailed it.

I'll always bow to the master, Bruce cassidy, but I was perplexed at the lines, especially Backes

He was drafted and traded by St louis – playing his previous team in the Stanley Cup final

That's the juice we should've kept on ice!

But.. It didn't matter. It wasn't about anybody winning

After 39 years? St Louis wasn't losing
    🏆

    That was clear game 5

    When my heart sunk.
The blowout game 6 just meant we were going to get spanked game 7

St Louis had nearly four decades of momentum and the puck luck at the right time

  22. I thought all 4 lines have all shone at times. As you say we are gonna be fine if they can consistently perform to this level.
McAvoy is flying right now. The time off did him a world of good. Lohrie seems to have been reigned in a bit and lets hope that continues.
When you have Jeannot, Zadorov, Kastelic, you know people are gonna get hit. For as many plays like that set-up for Bedar, there will be as many plays that the opposition will blow out of fear of being run over LOL
I do agree…way too many penalties thus far. We can't sustain that.

  23. I agree on everything you said. Maybe Hampus Lindholm will miss one game. In that case Jordan Harris will take his spot. I am apprehensive about the next match against the Sabres.

  24. Small sample but pleasantly surprised. Great goaltending, improved special teams, defense tightened up and didn’t fold against the Capitals with the extra attacker and got the empty net goal! Minten looked pretty damn sharp sniping one in that breakaway OT game winner.

  25. Nothing wrong with big bad bruins but you still need skill. Neely is one of my favorite Bruins ever but I think he needs to go.

  26. This yr is about being competitive and next 2 yrs with hagens minten and others will be about challenging for a cup.

  27. More shooting! Finally. Shoot the DAMN puck! Good defense is supposed to stop good offense. I think we're gonna test that theory this year. Holding my breath over the next few games. Is it real…. 🤔
