Design director Matty Merrill of adidas Hockey and Nic Corbett, director of Hockey at adidas, break down how they came up with the logo, color scheme and jerseys for the newly revealed Seattle Kraken

Krakheads isn’t a bad nickname for their fan base. Take a negative and make it a positive. Also the guy with beard did a great job explaining their creation. Really smart guy.
The name is good, I was worried about the jersey and colors, I thought it was going to be green, I thought the jerseys would look like minor league practice jerseys.. but the S looks sick! The color is perfect it’s classy and menacing. The deep sea blue, the red eye, that is cool.
The logo is amazing, but the colors are so bland. Would've wished for more of a blended sea green and a bright orange than a generic navy base and red accent.
Maybe it’s just me but this logo just has the feel that a 14 year old kid sat down and started playing create a team mode on chel (but imagine chel let you design your own logo like MLB the show)
Logo, colors, jersey, maritime gimmick all is top notch, it's just the name thats bad for this franchise Sea Monsters, Admirals, Navigators or something else would be better. There is still time to find something else and just use Kraken like a nickname like the blue shirts, Hockeytown or Habs
Move that anchor ⚓ down off of the shoulder and superimpose it behind the "S". Then have the tentacle part of the "S" sticking slightly outward in a squiggly fashion with more visible suction cups on it. On the shoulder, have a giant tentacle protruding out of the ocean, wrapped around a hockey stick thats made to look like an old sailboat. This really isnt that hard, why do rich people who own sports teams suck so much at it?
Idk, I was so stoked… then I saw it. It just feels like they should be playing the Portland Winterhawks. I really hope that Portland gets a team and doesn't name it something dumb.
Love it. It’s cool to hear about the thinking that goes into creating the jerseys. Looking forward to seeing Seattle in the NHL. Would love to see a Heritage version of the Jersey
Fans use to support local teams for many reason one of which was city/state/regional pride but its BS. Kraken owner also owns Celtics. How do you buy into something that is only about $$$. Supporting local College & or high school tournaments is so much better. What happened to the self righteous who were concerned about contact sports resulting in TBI
I just noticed this yesterday- The Kracken logo looks like the Suzuki car emblem logo! I was walking to the store and a Suzuki's front end emblem looked so much like the Kracken logo, I thought the car owner is a fan. But, as I got closer, it's the Suzuki logo for all their cars. Looks exactly like the Kracken's logo- yes, minus the red eye, but the same basic design!
