Where Does Jack Roslovic Fit in the Oilers’ Lineup?

The Edmonton Oilers made a move during last night’s game, signing forward Jack Roslovic to a one-year, $1.5 million deal. On Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin break down the signing and debate where Roslovic fits best in the Oilers’ lineup.

Should he slot into the top six alongside McDavid or Draisaitl, or would he be a better fit in a depth role to strengthen the bottom six? Tyler and Liam share their thoughts on how Edmonton can get the most out of their newest forward.

  1. OK YOU 2. YOU ARE CLEARLY TO YOUNG TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. ABOUT THE PK & MCDAVID. GRETZKY PLAYED ON BOTH THE PP & PK ALL THE TIME

  2. So Howard and Tomasek can be sent down without waivers. Philp can't. Who they going to park or punt or sell.

  3. I think once Hyman and Janmark are back they’ll just send down lazar and Howard.
I think Drai and McDavid need to play apart now.
    Mangiapane – McDavid – Hyman
    Podkolzin – Drai – Savoie/Roslovic
    Henrique – Nugent-Hopkins – Frederic
    Janmark/Kapanen -Philp/Tomasek – Roslovic/Savoie
If Edmonton has a good year with injuries I can see them sending down Savoie to play big minutes. That’s a lot to ask because almost half of them forwards have had a ton of games played in these last few years. But aleast we have insurance with upside if need be. I’m not saying they should Lebron James it but if some players deal with nagging injuries let them take a little longer to get back in the lineup. No need to rush guys back when we have this amount of depth.
I think where we get rid of a contract is Stecher or Emberson. I know Emberson is younger but with both regula and Stecher being half the amount of money of Emberson we gain a tad bit of cap flexibility towards the deadline. I don’t think you’d bring in much for either of them, but you would get more for Emberson. Stecher is a steady reliable bet, and you never have to worry about work ethic with him. You also know he can play with nurse. Regula is a guy that could be better than Emberson anyways. He’s big, moves the puck well enough and seems to be good defensively. I can’t say I know how physical he is but you don’t Need to be overly physical. Ekholm isn’t the most punishing as an example. As long as he uses his size to his advantage he’d be good.

  4. heres my lineup once hyman comes back Howard mcd hyman 2nd is podz drai savy 3rd mangiapane freddy roslovic 4th kapanen rico/philp tomasek i have howard so high cuz hes a goal scorer who can snipe from a ways away. hymans the net front and mcd does his mcd things. I have drai and podz toether for obv reasons and put savoie cuz of his speed and playmaking ability's then the rest is just a bottom 6 anyone can put together.

  5. You decide what's better in the comments.

    Lineup A:

    Draisaitl / McDavid / Hyman
    Mangiapane / RNH / Roslovic
    Henrique / Frederic / Savoie
    Podkolzin + Philp + Kapanen

    Lineup B:

    Hyman / McDavid / Roslovic
    Podkolzin / Draisaitl / Savoie
    Mangiapane / RNH / Frederic
    Henrique / Philp / Kapanen

  6. Oilers have 4 LHD, 4 RHD on the roster right now and Kulak makes $2.75M with no trade protection. I think when Walman is healthy there's a reasonable chance Kulak could be traded and you may even get a bit of value in the return for him.

I like Kulak but I think that's an easy one to move where you could actually get a return for him. But yea if you're not getting a return then you drop Janmark for a song and send someone down. You could circle back to a Kulak move closer to the deadline.

I'd also be healthy scratching Henrique until he agrees to a move somewhere.

  7. It already seemed like Lazar would be the one to get sent down. The Roslovic signing just solidifies that imo
