When Montreal got the odd man rush the scored. When the wings got the rush they missed the net or hit the goalie. Face it the wings just weren’t ready.
I genuinely hope this isn’t an omen for the rest of the season.

Johansson is not an NHL level defenseman; Hamonic is washed up. Gibson hasn't looked good in pre-season and it carried over to this game. Rasmussen and Soderblom fail to use their size to hit or win puck battles. The team looks hesitant/confused on breakouts.

I no johannson played poorly. But I’m not sure why docker didn’t start. I would have had johannson with docker. Also Gibson was bad this game. But honestly u can’t win with 1 goal. Usually. Even if Gibson played well and allowed 2 goals Detroit still loses. If Gibson was going to shit the bed. This was the game to do it.

ASP had a really great debut best D in Detroit, most ice time, best advanced too.
But so many other bad signs from the team and it is not surprising given the terrible off-season by the management.
What was the problem? 5 goals against on 13 shots. I'm not letting Gibson of the hook. Grant it we didn't stay on the strong side of the puck. We attacked linearly. One poke check and all 3 forwards are on the weak side of the puck chasing. D never looked part of a offensive push through the neutral zone. Gibson makes a couple stops and he sets the tone.
Watched most of the game while making/having breakfast.

Hoping Johannson can bounce back. Not sure if he will be good enough to play second pair the ASP, but that would be ideal. Chiarot would be best on the 3rd pair.

I saw the first goal by the Habs, saw the predictability of Raymond on the pp throwing a pass to cat for a one timer that got blocked like 6 times, saw the same terrible back checking, saw ras copp and compher slow and ineffective, saw them over passing so much that even rookies were doing it, and said enough is enough, time to get rid of all the vets who aren't larks cat or kane, and just bring uo all the youth because this team has a plague of playing the same each year and I hope Raymond and spider can break from it but it may not happen. This isn't a coaching thing, this is a by product of Steve signing below average free agents over and over, hoping they can resurrect their careers when all they do is bring bad tendencies to this team that infect the youth. If illitch does not want to pay for players, he should sell the team to someone who does, if Stevie wants to keep signing hasbeens he needs to be fired, so many problems with this organization from the top down.
