They played well last game. Kapanen and Bolduc are players.
Laine is playing better but he doesn't bring anything special to the team on a 4th line and Bolduc should be playing with Demidov.
Goated lines would be
Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Bolduc-Kapanen-Demidov
Dach-Veleno-Newhook
Gally-Evans-Anderson
We like to talk about Demidov and Hutson all the time, but this Bolduc guy seems to have all the tools to be a perennial 20 goal scorer with a possible 35-40 goal ceiling.
That is the A team!
Bros,, DET coming out w the vintage browns on the opener was wild.. write this one off ,, see how we fare against Chi before we come home
Very happy with this team effort. Slaf is using his size more effectively. Great to see him score early in the season and show us that huge shit-eating grin. Matheson was great picking up the 1st star of the game. Laine was putting in the effort but looked a bit lost. Newhook and Evans winning most of their faceoffs was good to see. Having Kap and Bolduc making early and significant contributions to the team bodes very well. Lots to like from this game as the Habs really dominated the play after opening goal. They need to continue to bring this energy Saturday night in Chicago from the first puck drop. Looking forward to the home opener. The place will be rocking. Thanks guys.
Merci beaucoup
I like Dobis more than Monty…he seems calm and doesn't flail around like Monty. Dobis made some great saves and I think if Monty was in nets tonight, we may not have won.
Laine put a shot on net with .8 seconds left! It didnt show on the score sheet and i needed it to win 1200 bucks lol im pissed
Why is Matheson being so good surprising? Besides Suzuki he's been our MVP for the past 2-3 years.
I was stoked when I heard Bolduc got traded to the habs, but now im falling in love with him.
Happy to see the Sens beat the Lightning tonight too! I'm still bitter that TB cheated the cap to steal a Stanley Cup from Weber, Danault, Price etc. Bergevin built that team to win in the playoffs…couldn't have imagined that his team would have to go up against a team 20 mill over the cap. And to make the playoffs this year, we'll need to finish ahead of Tampa.
Love that we snagged two points obviously, but don't like that we got badly outplayed by the Wings tonight. We were better against the Leafs. Let's call it even on the first two games. Deserved the win last night, didn't deserve this one tonight. Being 1 and 1 out of it is okay 😏
Bolduc and Kapanen are the real deal, good size, speed, grit and skill. Newhook did terrific on face offs! Habs look to have the makings of a dynamic middle 6. Patience with Demidov is the way. With Hage and Beck in camp next year things are going to get hot. Love that Anderson gets all that ice on the PK. That horse needs to run.
8 and 53 are one of the most mobile pairings in the league and @ 6’-2” and 6’-4”, they cover the ice.
To be completely fair with Matheson…
Not playing 25 or sometimes 30+ minutes per game really does help to clean up his game…
I kept saying last year that Matheson's hate was way too much for the amount of time he had to be on the ice…
Matheson was a good player that was overused EVERY game.
Now he is showing that he is a very good player with more "normal" minutes
Bolduc is the next guy lafleur
The goaltending is key… Dobes looked very very good! Bolduc was a steal too.
Laine is slow and he is a liability. The Habs have several speedy forwards in their system who can take Liane's place and improve the team (eg: Veleno).
Zachary Goal-duc! What a start to his home town tenure.
Honestly hudson should sign a contract hes good but so small that he cannot be a 1# defensive defenseman if you want to be a center or winger ill pay you for your goals but if you cant defend as a defenseman your value should drop
Honestly I think Dobeš should be the number one goalie. I don´t remember he had a bad game.
Great session Josh/Jesse. Thanks for the recap!
The Canadiens have played well in both of their first two games. I am optimistic the team will continue to play well, and the NHL is being placed on notice. These guys are not bottom dwellers.
Slaf is being first half Slaf but Cole and Suzi look a little rusty but it wont be long until they are firing on all cylinders. Great team effort! Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!
