Another year of NHL roster cuts means more NHL prospects on the brink, hopefully we see some statement years out of them! What are YOUR thoughts on these top prospects recently demoted to the AHL? And which of them do YOU think will turn the page and become NHLers? #GravGang🤔

question for the dallas stars fan you are : does Lian Bichsel have secured a spot in the defense, at least third pair ? I really like his energy and physicality
OTOH, these prospects are NOT in trouble:
Axel Sandin-Pellikka
Michael Brandsegg-Nygård
Emmitt Finnie
All three made the Red Wings roster this season.
So long Holl and Gustafsson!
David Reinbacher will be on this list next year, I was half expecting to see him in this one. I think FINALLY some Habs fans are realizing maybe he wasnt the best pick… There are still some die-hard reinbacher fans out there tho who will NEVER admit it, u will see, im sure there will be a reply from one or two to this comment. This is just my opinion, i am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, if u like him, that's fine, im sure he's a fine upstanding young man, lol, i just dont think he was the best pick, and it seems as tho, he may be proving me right, he gets hurt very easily, and often, AND when we drafted him, we drafted him just because he was a right shot defenseman, which we did need, a little, but not nearly as much as we needed scoring, and there were some very good offensive players available. Again, this is my opinion, if u like reinbacher, that's fine, dont get mad at me, because im not a fan! lol. And here we go…
Blackhawks messed up so bad with Korchinski when they didn't send him back to the WHL and told him to focus on defense that game instead they kept him in the NHL
5:20 what website is that?
I’m shocked you didn’t mention Fabian lysell in Boston, he was so hyped for years but every preseason he underwhelms and is a no brainer to demote to the minors
They are only in trouble if Gary Bettman swoops down from the rafters and carries them off like a pterodactyl
Thomas Bordeleau
Cbus needs to keep Luca Del Bel Belluz on the main roster. He doesn't need more time in the AHL.
Simon Nemec doesn't even get to play.
Othman was a player i was very high on. He was a bit of a early bloomer. For the juniors he was physically mature before the rest. When he hit his match in the NHL, his foot speed became an issue. Ron Duguay (Rangers legendish) said Othman peaked to early and can't match the NHL size and speed like the juniors.
Korchinski is still young hes 21 … needs a lil more seasoning then he be ready …. hawks gave his spot to an old guy agian . Grezlyck took his spot dont worry they trade him.. and kevin will get is time to shine 💪💪💪
Where is Oliver Moore?
Jones is no longer a prospect, and he was never highly rated anyway.
reinbacher needs to be on here.
When I think of NHL prospects whose careers may be in trouble, I think of winger Tyler Boucher, currently in the final season of his entry-level contract and having yet to play in an NHL regular-season or playoff game despite the Ottawa Senators having drafted him top-10 during his NHL Draft year. Mads Sogaard, a goalie who the Sens also once drafted, has played in 29 NHL regular-season games over four seasons, most of them during the 2022–23 season and is in the final season of his second NHL contract. Between the winger and goalie, both will become restricted free agents if they receive qualifying offers from any NHL team and, if they do, the winger won’t get to exercise arbitration rights while the goalie will.
What about prospects under contract to other Canadian NHL teams? Of those who have expiring contracts , the:
– Canucks have Nils Aman and Max Sasson as pending RFAs who, if they receive qualifying offers, will each get to exercise arbitration, rights, with:
— Vitali Kravtsov eligible to become a group six unrestricted FA if he plays fewer than 16 games from this week to June
— Guillaume Brisebois slated to become a UFA in July should the Canucks not sign him to a new contract as he is already 28 years old
— Jett Woo, who has yet to play an NHL non-preseason game, eligible to become a group 6 UFA unless he plays, from this week to June, in at least 80 NHL games
– Flames, among players no longer eligible to be sent down without having to clear waivers, Clark Bishop, Rory Kerins, Sam Morton, Jeremie Poirier and Ivan Prosvetov
– Oilers, among players no longer eligible to be sent down without having their waivers, Max Jones, Roby Jarventie and Cam Dineen
– Jets, among players who must clear waivers to be sent down to the minors, five forwards and three defenceman
– Leafs, among players who must clear waivers before being sent down, but already down the minors, two and three respective forwards and defencemen
– Habs, among players with expiring contracts, who must clear waivers if recalled from the minors and then subsequently sent down, three, three and one respective forwards, defencemen and goalies
I haven't heard of any these players. Big indicator of being a bust.
Topi Niemela might be another one at this point
I think some of these prospects can benefit from a change of scenery like trading them
Ostlund likely will be fine, but I agree he should be on the trading block.
On His production last year however, while it took a while for him to get going, and while it didn’t look impressive, that’s cause he went scoreless for the first 16 games, got injured, came back, went scoreless for 3 more then you couldn’t keep him off of the scoreboard.
I just asked the Duck Duck Go AI tool by position what were the average ages at which NHL players completed their first full season. These were the answers:
Center – 24 (This one might be misleading as a lot of centers start out in the NHL as wingers and then convert to center after a year or two.)
Winger – 22 to 23
Defenseman – 23
Goalie – 23 to 24
IF those are correct, it seems premature to say a young player below those numbers at their position is in trouble. I can see calling them disappointing if they’re a first round pick, especially if they’re a high 1st rounder. Now once they hit the above age for their position – if they haven’t made the NHL – then they’re ’in trouble’.
Roy has alot of talent needs to play with talent which has not been the case in montreal ! Montreal preferes to give a sausage like joe valeno a spot then give some of our young guys a real chance , your not useing them trade them i say !
Heres what makes me love my Lightning even more than I do. We keep our guys in the AHL for YEARS (for the most part). Then…EVERY YEAR, we bring up a guy that the rest of the league has NEVER heard of before, yet STILL amazes. And the rest of the league is shocked at how well he performs. Goncalves, Geekie, Reed. Get your "Get Ready Pill" kids.
Ville Heinola :/
How are the Rangers supposed to develop prospects when the head of player development is Tanner Glass? No offense, but a fourth liner developing kids makes more fourth liners
Not a good look when you blow your 1st pick of a rebuild (korchinski)
You could argue kyle d has blown all his 1st picks, definitely wasted most of his 2nd rounders
Arshdeep Bains is 24! Dam. He’s a candidate for a video on players who make the cut but then fail to hold down a role
This guy knows hockey.
Another year of me saying the draft is a complete crap shoot. These "experts" really have no idea how these kids will turn out
That NCAA rule could’ve saved Korchinski
A Rangers forward not developing, I'm shocked.
Lukas Reichel has been failed by management and coaching without a doubt.
Gabe Perreault has already passed Othmann. I hope he develops
Zach Dean, Oskar Olausson Carson Lambos (My personal Favourite) and Isak Rosen imo
Korchinksi first playing NHL level with a bottom rung team and old "who gives AF owie im hurt again" Seth Jones didnt do him any favors.
Roy's clock was ticking last year. He was penciled in a roster spot before training camp and didn't seize the opportunity. This year they didn't really give him much of a look. He was amongst the first cut.
He has the IQ, the hands and the shot. But has no motor and is a below average skate. He also has no physical play. He is simply not a bottom 6 guy
He has been passed by so many other prospects, he doesn't figure in the future plans anymore.
As a Sabres fan I am worried about Rosen. Not sure he’ll ever crack the roster without an injury to any of the top 12 forwards
Why did Buffalo take Ostlund from the SHL in the first place? The SHL is as good as the AHL in quality of play if not better, and pays a lot better.
I’m genuinely confused how you put Ostlund instead of Isak Rosen?
I’m sorry but you can’t call anybody a bust who’s under 25. Being thrust into the NHL as a 19 and 20 year old and not producing a ppg+ in 2 years is absurd. Everyone takes time to develop and some of its on the organization and some on the player. Listen not every first round pans out what they’re supposed to be that’s a fact. The writing isn’t on the wall for all of these guys. But to sit around and call someone who is on an ELC a bust is such a dweeb take. Probably the same guy who said jack hughes was a bust after his first 2 seasons to.
Korchinski will be fine it was that dumb fucking rule that screwed him up where he couldn't play in the A or Whl he can still be a top 4 no problem
Real concern as a sabres fan is Isak Rosen, the fact he still isn't even being given a chance is a bigger deal than Zac jones
Korchinski was drafted same year as nemec and seamus casey. Both who barely can make nhl roster
As a wild fan, I have to say Jesper Walstedt is getting close
Its still so early on Korchinski. AHL is a great spot for him at 21 years old. Better to play there than let whats happening to Levshunov to him too.
The nhl handed Chicago 2 Generational players. I hope they never win another cup.
Korchinski, Rychel and Commesso are all significant busts for Chicago. I’d say the same for Kirby Dach, but he’s Montreal’s problem now.
Korch was so damn skinny his rookie year, it was obvious he couldn’t handle the big boys in the show. Let him bulk up while he’s in the A, and the kid will be fine
Korchinski is extremely weak defensively but he has decent offensive upside. He had good WHL totals, but it was evident that both his offense and his defense would struggle to translate. He still has a chance to be a guy considering how bad Chicago is, but I’m not counting on it. Hopefully he can end up a top 4 D for us.
