Is Jake Walman’s $49 Million Deal a STEAL or a MISTAKE

The Edmonton Oilers have locked up defenseman Jake Walman to a massive 7-year deal worth $7 million AAV, and it’s got fans talking. On Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin break down the new contract — was this a smart long-term move or an overpay?

They dive into what Walman brings to the blue line, how this shapes the Oilers’ defensive core moving forward, and whether this deal helps or hurts Edmonton’s cap situation down the road.

  1. Depends on what you could potentially use the money on down the line. If you could’ve used that money to bring in another superstar through a trade it looks terrible.

  2. Instead of show Mcdavid that he should be pay for what his level is. Oilers spend the money on someone else. Do not be surprise that Mcdavid will leave after two more years.

  3. Jake is tight and solid generates some offence supremely good value 7 for 7 let's have a kickass season Walman !!
