Great night for Toronto baseball and hockey!
For almost 2 periods Montreal was the better team, but managed to lose anyway. A 'B' grade effort from the Leafs in terms of execution, physicality & puck management. They are capable of much better, so take the 2 points & move on.
Go leafs go
Way to start the season on a winning note you get the two points against Montreal. There’s stuff to work on as Craig Barve just said, but it wins the win work on the stuff and practising get better and get ready for Detroit Saturday.
2pts Yes but what a lethargic game by both teams.
1 of 82…🏁
Overall not a great effort. Numerous lazy giveaways in the neutral zone led to both MTL goals. They have to be a lot better than this game tonight.
Toronto will need some more talent on this team. The D is spotty and the forward depth is not good.
The leafs defensive play was terrible they looked like they weren’t ready the Habs are a real good team
I know this is just the first game of a long season but apart from Stolarz, the Leafs looked terrible all around. Didn't see any DNA they keep talking about and it was the usual lacklustre perimeter play with long bouts of getting hemmed in. By the Habs no less. It would not surprise me if the Leafs didn't make the playoffs this season.
