  1. Islanders need to get Barzal and Bo back together. They were showing some real chemistry last year, and Barzal suks at FO's. Calum can't do any worse.

  2. The future looks very bright in New York after year after year of having a old slow team with no number one draft pick. it was the right time for Lou to go & the Isles are in good hands with Daeche.

  3. Hopefully Darche moves out some more elderly players. Picks and or Prospects for Lee, JGP, Cizikas, Pelech , Mayfield absolutely regardless of position by the deadline should be Dealt. Gatcomb should be on line 4 with Heineman and possibly Kyle McLean! Like Holmstrom with Sippykov on the 3 rd line with Ritchie after JGP is dealt . Varly will likely have to retire. Don’t have faith in Duclair staying healthy. Islanders will have to trade or waive a player or 2 before the season as they have a gut of NHL players that will not make the Roster. Concerned as well for Barzal and his health one hit to that knee could put his career at risk. Dealing of the older players will certainly free up 20 million plus for 26/27 season. Don’t mind seeing younger players on the ice making mistakes as the older ones make more as veterans. Not certain Roy is the guy to lead this team but do like the 2 new assistant coaches who should make the PP n PK more respectable then 31 of 32 teams as last season was disastrous. Future is bright with Darche. Certainly need to draft more skilled forwards and a good Goalie Prospect. It will require some patience but confident Darche will turn this team around. Eklund and Prokhorov will have a great impact in a year or 2 on the right wing.

  4. Injuries is what made every season since Trotz got there a team that had to fight to get in. They have great starts to season where they would be near the top of the Metro but December/ January would have a number of long term Injuries to their top players and they would drop in the standings. That was why Lou would pick up Pageau then Horvat and they would fight down the stretch to make it in. Their problem was no depth to cover the injuries. They would plug an AHL player whos not ready, or pick up someone teams have passed on. I think Darche has done a good job bringing in NHL experienced players and young players ready to make that jump if needed to fill in during injuries. They will be a lot better than people are expecting.

  5. If everything goes well and they remain relatively healthy, the Islanders should be a bubble team. I’m less concerned about this season than the future. The future looks so much better than it has in a long time.

  6. The isles should have been 1st round, get knocked out, team last season but had injuries and missed the playoffs on their last 2 games I believe. They theoretically should be worse but I think it’s fair to expect a wildcard as a fan.

  7. As an Isles fan….u crushed this. Great take on the past, current team and future team.

Ritchie WILL likely get a roster spot though. Tonight vs the Rangers is a BIG game for him. But so far he looks like a stud 2-way player.

We have Eklund, Eiserman, Aitcheson, Romano, Prokhorov all moving up next year….we need this season to get Ritchie and Schaefer fully integrated so we can focus on those new guys next season.

Once Lee (we'll miss him…Great Captain), Pageau, Cizikis are all moved this team will have fresh legs, and with Horvatt as a Captain, we will play for a cup inside 3-4yrs

  8. Barzal, Duclair, Varlamov being hurt most of the year certainly hurt them. Not saying they would have went far, but I think they would have made the playoffs.
