So Tampa gets fined and Florida gets nothing at all? That makes no sense.
yes lets end the Tampa and Florida situation by fining and punishing only 1 team that didnt start the problems and suspend two of their players while Florida is still given the luxury of being able to injure players on purpose and one player who started attacking another gets a 2000 dollar fine yeah good one totally not biased……

As someone who despises Tampa, they got shafted hard. The League has made it clear Florida is allowed to headhunter and you're not allowed to respond.
Blackwood is day-to-day not week-to-week and practiced with the team before they left. The Lumberyard will be fine and Wedgewood's got this for a couple of games. Also kinda funny that 5 seconds before you reported on the Avs injured goalie was to claim that nearly everybody is healthy to start the season.

I'm sure that, especially with Florida's cocky attitude, that to Tampa players, coaches, and fans, those fines were money well spent. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if other teams took up a collection to show their gratitude. But it just goes to show you how the league tends to punish the retaliating victims on the back end of all the mishegoss…If I were opposing players I would send the Broward thugs a courtesy box filled with casts and crutches with a note saying, "Get ready. You're gonna need them."…This is why bad hockey flourishes, because the NHL and neither player safety or the commish know how to deal with this crap…
McIlrath would have been sent down for the Caps, because Vincent Iorio is not waivers exempt. McIlrath is also 33, and makes $800K in the minors, making him undesirable for a waivers claim by another team.

I don't know how the NH/Boston picks the dates for the jerseys to be retired, but I kind of wished that Chara's jersey would have been retired on March 3rd against the Penguins

Hockeyguy, you should do a bit on all of the injures caused by the Panthers and Ekblad and the LACK of discipline compared to other teams. The fact that the league didn't do anything to the Panthers is absolutely preposterous and we all know it. Ekblad with the elbows, knocking out goalies, elbow to the head of Hagel to end his post season while he only got 2 games, Greer getting nothing for what he did… Come on now!!

Used to play a lot of NHL 2010 against my friend who was a Pittsburgh fan. I definitely heard a lot of Crosby Malkin Letang, wild and awesome that they're still playing together.
Crosby is, BY ANY DEFINITION, the BEST contract in the NHL; not even close. Kaprizov was over-paid; may not affect much… Mc?Defense? is not setting ANY precedence, when THE BEST player in the past 20 years has been doing this for over a decade; maybe McD is starting to learn about THE WHOLE GAME, a little bit.
Duh! Chara getting jersey raised against Seattle (Who???) Kraken, SELLS TICKETS at a game no one was going to attend, not even season-ticket holders… They have now guaranteed a SELL-OUT. Come on, Shannon, can you be just A LITTLE MORE cynical (by which I mean, REALISTIC) about this league?
The WORST part of that Tampa / Florida game (which I agree, was HORRIBLE… If I'd been The Panthers, I would have ordered the team off the ice, and taken whatever fine that came with; reminded me of going back to the crap that was The NHL back in the 70's, when the Russian team left the ice against Booby Clarke's (et al) horrifically disgusting play – I stopped watching the game for a while there, it was so bad…) BUT, the WORST part, was watching John Cooper laughing coyly about it all, on the bench, telling referees, "What? What did we do?"; just lost A LOT OF RESPECT for one of the best coaches in the game, and he's hurt his own legacy a whole bunch with allowing / promoting the antics / goonery.

It’s on a Thursday against the Kraken to sell tickets. Games against Montreal etc. probably sell themselves. Having it on the Thursday Kraken game lets them sell tickets that would otherwise go unsold.

As a Bruins fan, I agree. The B's should have retired the number on the night they play the Habs. It would have been very fitting for Chara, too, considering how the two teams battled during the Chara days. And obviously, because of THE rivalry of the NHL.

Why is Florida just not culpable at all?
Colorado is so incredibly dishonest about its injury issues. They never underestimate a time-to-return. It's alway initially downplayed, then temporized, then suddenly "doing well" becomes week-to-week or longer.
The NHL fined Tampa and the coach because THEY INSTIGATED THE WHOLE THING, INCLUDING CALLING UP GOONS to start trying to hurt people in the first minute.
