  1. I been saying all along it will be 2 years max.. but another reason I think he took a team friendly deal because this way if he asks for a trade eventually the Oilers will make it happen pretty easily than if it was 18-19M..the Oilers officially are on the clock and have max 2 more playoffs left with McDavid to get it done now because in year 3 if they have not at least went deep again he will want out then

  2. If players like mcdavid actually wanted a cup after not doing anything during their first 8 year deals, wouldn't it be smart (if they actually care about cups over money) to just sign for 1 million so the teams they're on can build a capable roster? After getting a cup or two, then getting their bag? Make sense to anyone else?

  3. McDavid is a winner in my book. It shows he cares more about winning than squeezing the last dollar for his contact.

  4. Wow Leo took a discount, this is the bargain bin. This saves enough to get a top ten goalie and a bit left over. Mcdavid doesn’t want a cup, he wants several.

  5. It's a brilliant contract. 2 years he'll figure out whether he wants to be there or not and the money isn't so high that he couldn't be traded if you wanted to absolutely brilliant

  6. Connor has clearly realized that if the Edmonton Oilers are going to win the Stanley it cannot just be about him. Therefore he's gotten out of the way and is going to allow the management there to go out and spend to bring in enough of a supporting cast to get him there! That's going to include and legitimate top tier goalie some defensive depth and most importantly some grit to perform in the playoffs. ESPECIALLY if they have to go against Florida again

  7. Given the tax bracket, he will see half of this. This contract is practically free of charge. Next summer look for the oilers to go big on a goalie.

  8. This is such a smart move the cap is set to be 105m and hes going for that 20% then this is not for the team its for his ego because if he leaves edm before he gats a cup he will be clowned

  9. why would u give walman 7×7 way too much especially if u only have 2 years to win a cup with mcdavids good contract

  10. Baseball and basketball have absolutely warped my sense of professional athletes salaries.
