    Veleno is the safe bet to start the season, up to him to keep it after or do good enough to get traded and leave room for a younger center

    The big question about Veleno has been and continues to be "If …." Tons of talent, but can he apply it consistently? It would be a huge steal for the Canadiens, if Veleno can "re-invent himself." A friend, who is a Red Wings fan, told me: "Don't hold your breath." Still, much better as the thirteenth forward than Michael Pezzetta.

    Thank you for returning to your correct positioning. Much, much better. My only complaint is that Marc-Antoine smiles far too much. Why is he so happy? I am jealous.

    Veleno is definitely in the drivrs seat but based on EARNED I have no doubt at al that Engstrom was EASILy the best qualifying player in the pre season.He showed very good/quick skating he was making great decisions and he was also able to skate the puck out of trouble.I was incredibly stunned when he went end to end for a breakaway but also not surprised he has very good skating and ability.
    I have NOT been impressed at all with Dobson imo he is no better than Mailloux or Reinbacher as Dobson is also slow of foot ok when he gets going but not quick from a stand still.Hutson played very poorly the last game which no surprise MTL had no success they NEED Hutson to be really good every night.
    MTL was actually pretty good in the HIT department last year THAT is not the big problem.The teams problems are the same since forever VERY bad in defensive zone really bad at 1 on 1 offensively or defensively and a severa lack of getting pucks and bodies to the net.

    The one drawback that scares me with Veleno in spite of him looking ok is that he has consistently been a really bad MINUS player every year.NEVER get FOOLED by junior stat results becuase being a better skater and or bigger than the rest goes a long way but does not mean success at the NHL level.
