Kirill Kaprizov just became the highest paid player in the NHL this morning as he signed a Whopping $136 million dollar extension good for $17 million per year! That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!
Compere to Rantanen and Marner deal this looks Bad yes i know that when healthy Kaprizov is better but those guys have played much More and low injurys and have had success on their career. Maybe this isnt Bad deal at all but those two other deals might be huge steals wich means what The F were AVS thinking🤣
A non competitive team overpaid for a Russian. Seems like the Cleveland Browns. My guess is that the player will be out of the league in 3 years, laughing all the way to the bank.
He could’ve easily been in a muddy trench in Ukraine. Hockey saved his ass from a psychopath Russian president. Oh, it’s likely at least 1/2 that payday will go to some Russian mafia outfit
I don’t like all the McDavid takes, it’s such a bad take. He won’t sign a $20M contract if his entire goal when signing with a new team or even Edmonton, is to win the cup. If he wants to win the cup, he won’t eat up a fourth of his teams salary. That’s not how teams win. You need to make deals. I think he signs the same kind of contract. You’ve got to take a little cut if you want a winning team. You can’t afford the key parts when you spend it all on the 1
Kaprizov is a damn good player but not a player who should be the highest paid player in the league. It would mean he is the greatest player in the league which he just isn't, there are actually a number of others who are objectively better than him.
For the Wild there was no A+ answer to the question. He’s probably the biggest star and most marketable player they’ve ever had. Letting KK walk would have been an epic fail. Trying to trade him would have been risky. With KK having a no move clause and other teams knowing this and knowing the big contract he wanted, there’s a good chance the Wild would have been lowballed. Certainly they don’t get a piece back that makes them winners this year. Is KK gonna be overpaid? Hell yes, but but for a smaller market NHL stars don’t particularly want to live in, that’s sometimes the only way to keep their star. Overall this was the best possible short term outcome for the team, you just gotta wonder how much it will hamper the team long term.
Watch him get hurt in couple months, misses the season, comes back next has career low points, demands trade, goes to Vegas, wins a cup, plays out the contract to the last, traded to Columbus, refuses to play goes to KHL and then retires. Check back in 9 years lol
Getting this money, he'd better produce 3-4 points every game and basically win the game every night on his own back. Nobody will make even close to his money on the team, thus they shouldnt have to produce at his level. This is one of the dark sided realities that come with making this money. He will have to basically win the game for his team every night. If not, he's underperforming.
These contracts just destroy a teams ability to win a Stanley Cup. It’s now completely incumbent on him to carry that team for the best part of a decade.
For a guy who's missed 25% of his time since joining the NHL due to injury and who'll be turning 30 in only the second year of this 8 year deal, this is beyond idiotic, even with the cap going up. Kaprizov is going to get insanely rich, but he's never going to win a Cup in Minnesota.
The Wild will still get bounced in RD-1 if they make it that far.
Minnesota fans will show up in droves, be soaked even harder to help pay for Kaprizov to score 75 pts in 60 games.
I would prefer this crazy deal paid dividends for Minnesota, see them be a real contender. How…? They’ll never be able to afford good help around Kaprizov, and finishing among the better teams won’t net them a game-changer in the draft, except by chance. They’ll have to let good players go to fit under the cap in future seasons.
There's no denying he's a dynamic player, game changer, when healthy. What cost will this have on fielding a great team under the salary cap? Did this signing just screw over our chances to win a cup?
Kaprizov is far and away the best player the Wild have ever had. (Lifelong Wild fan here, or I guess franchise long wild fan haha). Gaborik was faster, but Kaprizov is a better all around skater and puck handler, way better passer, way better teammate, not as fragile as gabby, and while they both had great hand eye and could snipe…Kaprizov is unreal in that department

17m a year for 20 total playoff points….RIP Mini just about to get off the 2 contracts that were holding them back to.

People lost their minds when Ray Bourque asked for $1 mil
Why would you type "KAR" to search for KIRILL? Absolute moron.

GM'S: We are in a tough position because of the salary cap.
Also GM's: Signing one player to stupid values
Sigh…. Get ready for $150 cheap seat tickets, $15 hotdogs, and High merch costs in the next year…
Wash… rinse … repeat…
Of course you realize that Tylenol recommends skipping it's products while pregnant, right? Stick to sports

Minnesota wild hockey gonna have a hard time staying alive in a few years when the Muslims have completed their Minneapolis take over.
Well the wild are screwed 18 mill to a dude that has taken then nowhere in playoffs that will help
Ok I’m in Halifax, let’s get donair

The best part was the people speculating that he turned it down to take less money for the team lmao! Welcome to Earth, he wanted more money

Could do without the Tylenol joke. Please do better
You don't even need to see the headlines. A smiling Russian? You know that dude got PAID

17M for one player on a team ensures they won’t win a cup for the next 8 years 😂😂

And Draisatl makes 15…. Bahahhahahahahhahahaha.
Then McJesus will get 25, somehow. Crazy stuff.
Watch that team fall apart. It was a good run boys.
if you really love playing hockey the money doesnt matter – some of the best accept normal contracts for the team – this isnt normal
i love donairs
1:35 (minnesota is considered large market team) 😉
Okay that’s too much money holy shit. He’s good but not that good
What did this change. The mild are still a shitty team. Shitty gm and owner.

Just plain dumb
Now they have no cap space for anyone else good 😅

Changes nothing at all.

Good for him
Is it just me or did the political jokes not make sense
I might be a bit biased as a Zuccarello fan, but Kaprizov is a strong second! Got to meet him in Lillehammer, Norway for a charity game. Great guy!
I'm glad the Wild and Kirill Kaprizov got this extension done, Kaprizov needs to stay healthy going forward!✌️
There's no denying he's a dynamic player, game changer, when healthy. What cost will this have on fielding a great team under the salary cap? Did this signing just screw over our chances to win a cup?
No, what "changed everything" was Bonehead Bettman announcing to the league the cap ceiling will increase to $113M in 3 seasons……..
Yeesh McDavid is going to nuke the market at this rate
fellow haligonian Can i take you up on that donair eating competition
Gabs….booo
