Colorado Avalanche Season Preview and Predictions for 2025 NHL Hockey season by the DNVR Avalanche Podcast. The Avs look primed for a President’s Trophy chase and a Stanley Cup run in 2025-26. With Nathan MacKinnon leading the charge, Cale Makar hunting for hardware, Gabe Landeskog returning to bolster the top six, and Brock Nelson slotted at 2C while Martin Necas pushes for a true breakout, Colorado’s forward core is built to score in waves. On the back end, Makar-Toews remains elite while Brent Burns adds special-teams bite, and in net Mackenzie Blackwood’s health alongside steady Scott Wedgewood sets the tone for a deep spring push. We break down projected win totals, lineup battles (Jack Drury, Victor Olofsson, Gavin Brindley), and the key X-factors that will decide whether the Avs dominate the NHL this season.

i am BEGGING the hockey gods to not let nelson become the next johanssen
Burns and Girard would work just fine for the regular season. I wouldn't feel great about that going in to a post season run but I'd also be stunned if they don't try to upgrade the defense at the deadline with a bigger physical defensive defenseman anyway.
if Brock Nelson falls through, you sell the farm for Nazem Kadri and say you're so so sorry
The time is now Marty
And in what way are the Avs better this season than last season with their first round loss to the injury-depleted Stars?
