I have them at 3rd or 4th in the division. Wouldn’t be surprised if we finished 3rd and got a leafs rematch if they finish second, although I could also see Florida taking 2nd.
I think we have another 1st round exit coming up this season which I’m fine with. But this team is always out to surprise me so if we don’t get a first round exit it’s either conference finals or being a lottery pick.
If the Inside the NHL doc on prime is any indication. Brady went goblin mode during and post 4 Nations. This winter is the Olympics and I cant see how he doesn't repeat that.
Man you guys are sleeping on them hard. As a Leafs fan I'd falcon punch that over, I have them finishing 2nd in the division. They have an incredibly solid foundation, Elite 1C, 1D, and 1G. Overall solid Top-6 and Top-4. Plus sneaky good depth additions with Ellers and Spence and having a full season of Cozens is going to be huge for them.
What's going to push the Senators higher than 5th? So many players on the Senators are bubble Olympians. Ullmark has a chance to be Sweden's starter. Merilainen has an outside chance to be Finland's third. Sanderson and Pinto may push to make team USA. Zetterlund has a chance to make team Sweden. Even Mantinpalo might make a push after getting the 4 Nations nod.
If all these players have a motivation to make the Olympic squads, Ottawa will be a really tough out every night.

A lot of questions still when it comes to the ceiling of the forward group. I’m still timid on them being a contender, they still need an elite winger, more grit on D (a lot of young D men who are offensive dmen).
I wouldn’t be surprised either way; they either make the playoffs on WC1 or a hard regression due to gambling on Cozens and Zetterlund to exceed their value contract wise.
My biggest issue with the team is, they have too many middle 6 forwards and not enough superstar talent (yet).
Y'all need to look at Ullmark's historical stats. One of the most consistent goalies in the NHL, by the numbers.

Can't see the Sens finishing any lower than 4th to be honest. They can also finish as high as #2.
Despite the roasting of our goalies over the first 5 minutes you guys came around on the rest of the team.

Defence looks good.
Chabot always gets hurt so Spence is gonna get some looks on the 2nd unit.
Zetterlund on a line with Greig, and Pinto could be nasty if happens(3rd line…wow)
Cozens could come in with a banger of a year, back to 30 goals ??? Hope so.

I think the only thing you can take away form preseason is how goalie are performing there still facing a good bit of shots and have to make some big saves 😊
