  1. Really don’t understand the coaches keeping Bains in the top 6. He has been bad in the top 6 and if we’re honest, every team has an arshdeep Bains, kalrson is a little different with his size and net front ability

  2. this is why Canucks management is a joke. Worst management in history of Canucks. Even worse than Bennings. Bains is mid even for the AHL…

  3. I like Bains, I’m glad he is getting a chance to get to play more on the big team. Maybe Footy can help mentor him a bit

  4. I think it should be raty over cootes even though he looks great I think it's smarter to give him the 9 games this season and if he's still performing at top flight let him play a full season

  5. I'm so sick of Bains. They lose nothing if he goes on waivers. He will never be an NHL regular. They just want to keep the Surrey kid and get DEI points.

  6. I think it also has to do with Bain’s skin colour and why people don’t like him, there’s a lot of racism towards south Asian people. No matter how good he gets, they will only see him for that.

  7. thats the biggest thing gio, ive preached it for years in your comments and on twitter. The fans of this team that truly understand hockey have 0 problem with mancini being sent down, 0 problem with cootes atleast getting his 8 games. 0 problem with bains getting lineup time (even though im still not a big fan of his play, id like just a little more hustle out of him). not every single player the canucks draft or acquire are gonna turn out like QH, i watched many many really bad defensive canucks teams and id much rather have a solid shut down 3rd pairing then a flashy puck moving pairing, why do we even need that when hughes and hronek produce chances everytime they step on. defence wins championships even if its boring

  8. I think Bains has proved to his disbelievers at every level of hockey that he is hard working and finds ways to be effective. I believe he was undrafted in the WHL and ended up being a top scorer (Correct me if I'm wrong) but that how I remember his trajectory.

  9. What I saw out of Bains in the AHL playoffs, is a guy who makes opposing teams pay for their cheap shots. Not by being a stupid goon going and taking masochistic retaliation penalties and taking himself out of the game for minutes at a stretch, and hurting his team, but by making plays and creating retaliatory goals. Take liberties on one of Bains' line mates? Hope you enjoy being -1 for the shift! I think he has the chance to make that drive translate into the NHL and that's a type of player the Canucks need given how many times they were punished last season by a the cheap shot-retaliation penalty combo last season.

A couple of plays that stand out of Bains doing this from the Calder Cup finals include where the Checkers hit Bains from behind, and he, while down on the ice, still on his knees, made a pass that resulted in a goal and a 2nd assist for him. In another game, Bains was on a rush with Sassen, who got taken out with a high stick, and Bains made a power move on the net, almost looking like he was channeling his anger at the Checkers for cheap shotting Sassen, and the refs for not calling it, scoring a highlight reel goal. Sure it's satisfying to see him abandon the rush to do some dumb brute stuff, but it's far more satisfying to see his — OUR — team lift the Memorial Cup. I kind of want to see if he can bring that drive to the NHL and help us win a Stanley Cup.
