The Caps might dip a bit but they have 4 balanced lines, decent defense and two solid goalies.
LT is solid when he's healthy and not overplayed.

😂 what a joke. The current Caps don't rely on Ovechkin to carry the team or the offense. They score by committee. That's why you saw so many career years last season. And you should expect it from those young players who are entering their prime. Wilson was finally healthy and not suspended so he reminded everyone that he's an elite power forward. Protas and McMichael are young guys who came into their own. Chychrun, Thompson, PLD all got the chance they've been waiting years for. As for this season, the roster is even better and younger. If Thompson falters, Lindgren has proven he can get Washington into the playoffs. Leonard is playing on the 3rd line so you don't have to believe in him or not. The team chemistry, coaching, management is all top notch. There's no significant injuries to start the season. There's a deep pool of prospects if they do run into injuries. Management has also shown themselves to be aggressive and make moves so if the team isn't trending in the right direction or if there's a chance to add at the deadline they're going to. Above all else, there's not 3 better teams than Washington in the Metro to push them into a wildcard battle.
