After 2 more Canucks preaseason games over the weekend, and just 2 games left, Matt and Blake break down the frontrunners for jobs and roster spots. The guys debate the performances of the 2 young stars in Braeden Cootes and Jonathan Lekkerimäki, and the many roster ramnifications of them making the team. They also look at veterans like Thatcher Demko and Filip Chytil who are looking to prove themselves in different ways. RinkWide’s Jeff Paterson stops in give his reviews of the weekend games, including Chytil’s bid to be a real world 2C, Cootes withstanding the attention of NHL stars, and the importance of these final two dress rehearsals against better opposition lineups. Then it’s TSN insider Darren Dreger making his season debut and giving us the lowdown on the Canucks optimism at camp. Dregs talks about the level of Canucks interest in still making a trade for a centre, and how much Chytil has changed that. Darren also takes us back to the Evander Kane acquisition, he looks at all the noise around Quinn Hughes’ future and he addresses Blake’s pet project of blowing the Devils away with a crazy trade offer for Luke Hughes. The guys finish up with a look at some nervy results for the Whitecaps and the Lions, a fine finish to the season for Jays and Mariners, plus all the drama from the Ryder Cup!

Both make the team. Lekkerimaki is on the 2nd line, and cootes is 3rd line center, with Sherwood and garland
Why is bains, Sasson, kravtsov still on the team. It’s ONLY 2 GAMES LEFT. Get the NHl lineup going and getting in their reps
Mancini doesn't make the team as they want to play Forbert. Sitting Mancini, or D Petey, doesn't make sense.
Put ratu on the wing cootes at centre
Blake you don't need Hoglander to go on LTIR to get the roster spot. And they have more in cap space than his salary. He will go on IR and just keep up a player. Might likely waive many of them on the final day in hopes they get lost among all the other waivers in the league, and then getting a month exemption to help get through October unscathed
There is no way in hell Bains or Sasson make the team over Lekkerimaki or even Cootes at this point.
Why am I surprised these two jabronis would have a negative outlook towards our rookies?
Listen in not even saying Cootes chance but given Hoglander is hurt Lekkerimaki is a lock at this point, also saying he's one dimensional isnt accurate.
He a good playmaker and his defensive game is a lot better.
As for Cootes, if he's helping you win you keep him full stop!
I get that Blueger kills penalties and I like the guy but he's a black hole offensively and is his defense really that great? If Cootes can win draws at 50+ % he's literally turning the Blueger argument to stay 100% based on his ability to kill penalties.
At that point you gotta wonder is he really that good on the pk it supercedes everything else? Try Raty, Linus ffs.
The last thing we need is more bottom six forwards Pagnotta is a moron.

LOC- Raty- Linus
Blueger- Kravstov 4th line and Logan rotate with the two extras to see what clicks.
Hughes – Hronek
MP – Myers
D-Petey – Willander
Forbort.
Bottom pairing rotates all three with and if Willander struggles than bring up Mancini.
I'm not a Forbort hater and love him on the PK but at the same time he's slow as fuck and I think he's gonna struggle with the new system.
Hronek, MP, Myers and D-Petey should be more than good enough on the PK.
I need someone to explain why Drew O'Connor has an unquestioned spot on this team. I know he has speed and size but I haven't seen him use much of either. What am I missing?

Horrendous assessment of Lekkerimaki's game fellas. He was easily the best canuck on the ice the last 2 games. Shot is there, hes skating well and fast, good in the corner, winning battles, making plays, head up, defensively responsible. Doesnt just look like an NHLer but looks like a top 6 guy.
