Greer attack on Hagel – Tough Call Recommendation
A.J. Greer attacked Brandon Hagel in a pre-season game with a crosscheck, a stick to the face, and then two hard punches to the jaw. This HAS to be worth more than a double minor and a ten minute misconduct.
NOTE: This will NOT be the only video to come out of this game but it’s 12:30am where I’m at and I’m going to bed!

What happened before all of this?
In the 4 countries tourney, Hagel accepted the invite from Tkachuk BEFORE the initial puck drop and they dropped the gloves. Tkachuk ended up getting taken down to the ice despite being the experienced fighter and missed the remainder of the tourney. Since then, the stinkin Panthers have had a bounty on Hagel. Ekblad took him out of the playoffs with a headshot and resulting concussion. That chickenshit move by ham-n- egger Greer deserves game suspensions. Ekblad used to be a good, hard nosed hockey player but he was a gutless goon in the playoffs. Lightning still owe him for that. Stay tuned for Nov.
Tough Call, since this is now the Panthers regular MO do you think a responsible league would starting giving fines and suspensions to Maurice? They took out star players from almost every series in the playoffs last year. It's not a one-off, it's a strategy.

League is gonna suspend Hagel for hitting Greers stick and hands with his face
Easy 12+ suspension. The high stick alone is 2-3, 3-4 for the follow up punch, 7-8 for the second punch especially after Hagel is clearly not fighting back
The fine levied for this cowardly mugging is laughable. No suspension for this?

This will happen to Brandon Hagel EVERY TIME he plays against the Panthers. And there’s nobody on the Lightning who is going to stop them. They aren’t going to forget what he did to Barkov last year and they also just don’t like him- so it’s a convenient excuse. The Panthers are a dirty team, yes…. But the Lightning are a team filled with pussies… bad combination that happens to make for very entertaining games.

Its absurd that was only called a minor should have been 5 and a game, then the league should have suspended him for 8+. Instead he gets a fine, I really hope the bolts run him hard, and anyone else on the ice that thinks ambushing with intent to injure is a "good" tactic. If the league wont do anything then they have to return the favor with interest and make it to painful for them to continue this strategy, yea it will mean bolts get suspended but better to set the tone at the beginning of the season to make then have to actually beat you with skill later.

If this isn't a lifetime suspension (in any sports) – what is? And all sports aside: Greer will go to jail for this in most civilized countries. The hockey context won't save him in court. Because this was neither self-defense nor provoked.
