It's preseason but I'm unimpressed with the team's play so far. Last night was a joke – disorganized offense with very few high-danger opportunities resulting in one fluke goal. Defense in the 1st period was a joke. They still can't generate offense on the transition. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs.

It's preseason dude, why are you discussing "3rd period woes"? How about an AHL goalie coming in to close it out? It's the time to experiment, not win.
Trouba is the hole they can't fill. Trouba was having a great season until he got hurt and came back a shadow of himself 24-25, and people act like that's what he's been the whole time. He carried K Miller for years. As soon as Trouba was slowed everyone figured out how terrible K Miller was. As much as I love the Rangers, this defense core is hardly scary.
Schneider needs to be in the top 4, assuming his shoulder is repaired. Either way, this is a forward and goalie team. The D just has to be good enough. Not sure it is, but we'll see.
No, Vak and Fox makes LOTS of sense. Gavrikov is our best D man. Wasting him trying to cover Fox's defensive liabilities, and Fox will NEVER be the Norris guy again. This also allows Gavrikov to be his best, instead of having to be Fox's caddy. This also allows Fox to get reduced ice time, since there will be many times we need more D instead of offense, and Fox won't give you D.
