Due to Barkov’s knee injury, the Panthers hopes for a third straight Cup look far dimmer than they did a few days ago.

I think you have the lines screwed up. Whenever Barkov is hurt Lundell centers the top line and Reinhart will be on it. It will also be a better defensive line than Bennetts. The thing that is the issue is then you don't have the Lundell centering the 3rd line which has been very good. The Panthers need to have someone step up and center the 3rd and 4th lines with Barkov and Nosek out. Maurice will probably be juggling line combinations for a while until the pieces fit. They are still a playoff team IMO.
3:54 Part of their record without Barkov is from where the were resting guys en masse at the end of the year, although I’m definitely not saying they’ll be just as good without him.
Lundell is basically mini-Barkov. Now is the time to truly shine for him. It's a good opportunity for him to truly become known.
I think we can already conclude that winning the cup this year doesn't count. Everyone knows with Barkov in, the Panthers win, so that invalidates all other potential winners, except for my team of course
rip my bet on suomi to win Milan
Samoskevich + Lundell due for major breakouts now.
Lundell will score 80 points. Perhaps no cup, but playoffs defenetly.
as a canes fan im still petrified of florida
Barkov will be ruled out the entire year, his was a complex surgery and neither the team nor the player will want to risk an early re-injury. He has years left, just turned 30 and is signed to 2030. The story from the year will be "Baby Barkov" Lundell, Samoskevich, and the leadership role of Marchand, Reinhart and other veterans with the group. That said, I do expect a wildcard from Zito.
The perspective has to be, this our opportunity to step up in the time of chaos. Lundell especially. Guy will be 24 in a couple of days but has 295 regular season games to go along with 77 playoff games. The experience is there but now it’s a different opportunity for him to play his game.
Panthers will circle the wagons and play the underdog all season long. Guys will like to show their mettle and win for their Captain. It will be a test but I’m sure they will pass it with flying colors!!!
Huge loss for tbe cats. Add Bob and Marchand are 100 years old +.
Don't forget that they have Seth Jones for the whole season.
Marchand slowed down? In what universe?
Good its not ovie..
Barkov will be missed badly, Cats could even have a problem getting into playoffs 😞
Couple more injuries to Panthers and we have a season.
I hope they miss the playoffs
Losing Barky is going to really hurt, no doubt about that. One note to mention, Reinhart was also nominated for the Selke as well, so he can fill the role to some degree. Lundell is already a two way forward as well. This will be a challenge for sure, but if anyone has been watching the Panthers over these past 3 runs, they are the team that lives for a challenge and adversity
They are still a playoff team without tkachuk and barkov
I think that the players’ decision to stay might have saved their season in terms of getting to the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if Zito can pull out another miracle.
Huberdeau???
Even if he makes it back to the playoffs, he won't be anywhere near 100%, so the threepeat dream is dead.
Panthers cope in the comments is delicious to read. No more LTIR, No more coasting, no 3 peat 😢.
I don't know how long the NHL has tracked that but a look a where Stanley cup teams ranked in man games list could be interesting.
Reinhardt can play center if needed
Panthers are not a 1 man team like the overrated Oilers. They are a complete team. They will be fine.
The thing that’s crazy to me is that some, even if just a few, are legitimately saying the Panthers need to make a trade to replace him. Not withstanding anything else, we have a famously deep roster. We can make do with the boys we have. And then you count in the fact that we are already so tight on resources because we have such a stacked roster, and that we’d be shedding what little resources we have… to threepeat. That makes no sense. If we’d lost the past two Finals or hadn’t even made both, I’d maybe get it. But I think accepting whatever happens this year in exchange for keeping this roster for years in the future is just common sense.
What everyone is forgetting is not that FLA has been and continues to be a deep team. It’s not that they don’t have the bench needed to likely still get them deep into the playoffs this year.
They just lost the two guys directly credited with the cultural mentality to do what they’ve done. The two guys everyone inside the organization credits with their success. It’s not that two rosters slots are open, it’s that two guys you need in the room to set the culture from day 1 are gone for at least half the year.
FLA proudly communicated it was their culture, not their bench, that one these two cups and that culture is now GONE. Things just got very interesting indeed.
I’m going on record saying Florida is done they already went to 3 finals ! They will show they age this year , no young stars everyone 29ish ! This feels like Tampa all over again but the goalie is getting old which nobody mentions 😂. Yes I’m a oilers fan and enough is enough
Wow ltir thing way more fair now
Sasha barkov is a special player. But his influence will remain in that locker room.
As a Panthers fan, it really… REALLY stings that our captain got hurt. He truly is the heartbeat of this team, one of the league's best players and an even better human being. If we were to make another Cup run, it'll definitely be the most difficult year yet. I definitely don't see us winning the division, it'll likely go to Tampa or Toronto (also wouldn't be surprised if Montreal can take it), but last year proved that it didn't matter. They're still a playoff team, and that's all they need to be. They are deep and they are tough. I've learned to never doubt their resilience.
They'll trade for Kopitar
SID THE KID!
