Simeon & Aleksandar Nikolov | Brothers Who Shocked the Volleyball World !!! How Two Brothers Took Bulgaria to the 2025 World Championship Final. Simeon and Aleksandar Nikolov are rewriting the story of Bulgarian volleyball. Born into a true volleyball family, as sons of the legendary Vladimir Nikolov, the two brothers are carrying the national team into a new golden era. Simeon, born in 2006, is a tall and powerful setter with outstanding court vision, strong serves, and the ability to score points himself thanks to his height and physicality. After starting at Levski Sofia and continuing through Long Beach State in the USA, he now plays in Russia’s Super League with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, where he continues to grow as a playmaker and leader.

Aleksandar, born in 2003, is already one of the most dangerous outside hitters in the world. Standing at over two meters tall, he combines explosive power with consistency and mental toughness. Playing for Cucine Lube Civitanova in Italy, he has already built a reputation as a clutch scorer and a leader on the Bulgarian national team.

At the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship in the Philippines, the Nikolov brothers delivered a historic performance. Bulgaria shocked the volleyball world by reaching the final, taking the silver medal for the first time since 1970. Aleksandar finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 173 points, leading in spike kills and earning a spot in the Dream Team. Simeon proved that he is more than just a young talent, running Bulgaria’s offense with maturity and scoring 35 points across the tournament with his serves, blocks, and smart playmaking.

Their chemistry as brothers makes them a unique duo on the court: Simeon sets, Aleksandar finishes. Together, they pushed Bulgaria to new heights, inspiring fans and proving that the country has a bright future in world volleyball. With their youth, skill, and hunger for success, Simeon and Aleksandar Nikolov are not just Bulgaria’s present—they are the future of global volleyball.
