    DK – Long one here… I'm not a hockey professional, nor am I decision-maker, but I think the decisions are easy. We know this team isn't looking to tank and wishes to remain competitive, but they're likely not a playoff team, so what purpose do players like Acciari, Heinen, K.Hayes and Lizotte truly serve here? Dubas wanted a youth movement and he's got it. These kids are playing competitive hockey. Can anyone realistically state the team results could be drastically different with Hallander, A. Hayes and Broz vs. the aforementioned vets? Sure, there may be some growing pains as the season drags on, but wasn't this the goal? A year from now with more experience, assuming at least a few of those kids figured it out, Dubas could now be in position to pull off the Caps-like retool. Is this team really going to crumble if they're in the lineup over Heinen, Acciari and Lizotte?

    Dubas and Muse need to stick to their guns on this. Otherwise, all of the “we aren’t tanking” talk from Dubas in multiple interviews and availabilities is garbage. Not only would it make the fans angry to see a bunch of 35 year olds eat minutes in Geno’s last season, it will demoralize Sid, who I understand is superhuman and loyal to a fault but how could he possibly withstand the noise around the team while on a sinking ship. Most importantly it will crush the young guys. “Hey sorry that you guys played your hearts because we told you you all had a fair shot and you outplayed a list of 7 nhl caliber forwards, but we need to suck so we can draft some kid that we deem more important than you even though he’s never even sniffed NHL ice before. Go win a Calder Cup and build fRiEnDsHiPs!”

    Penguins aren't serious about winning when squandering $13 mil in cap while the rest of the league snatches up the best available players. Hey Penguins, tell me you're tanking on purpose without telling me you're tanking on purpose.

    They will lose either way so why not develop the young guys and get them experience? I have a feeling the youth will play this year.

    Yep Koivunen is definitely super 'fast twitch' and that is something you are born with and want in any fast twitch sport like hockey (especially in a goalie). It can be developed to some degree, This is why some people are distance runners and others are sprinters. An example of a slow twitcher is Graves. If you can find a big guy who is also fast twitch that is the ultimate for a sport like hockey

    I like Ville. But the kid is middle 6 forward. He’s not a top line winger. I think he may play on the top line here…and I think he's a good player who will be serviceable. But I think he's 2nd line AT BEST. And the only reason he may be there is that the pens don’t have any 2nd line wingers on their team.
    (No mantha is not a competitive team would have taken him. No Rutger is not. His ceiling is 3rd line. He’s being pushed to be something more. No Novak is not. His ppg total while playing top 6 mins is not good).
    I like the young players they have. But they don’t have a standout top line player amongst them.
