  1. Hey Drew, hope Demidov is ok. I'm against calling him Demigod. I think that that's one of the problems with the media in Montreal. Too much insane hyperbole.

  2. Fighting in hockey contributes to the revenue stream. And unless they play with pool noodles (instead of a stick used repeatedly as a weapon) or automatic game misconducts and fines/suspensions for stick infractions or any "physical" related penalties. Some "enforcement" will always be necessary.

  3. I agree about Struble crosscheck but the Sens put ALL blame on the habs… They are ridiculous. Travis Green was right on what he says but he is hypocrite because he is the one putting these beef guys that have 0 chance making the team in the lineup. He knows what he was doing.

  4. Just so you KNOW …
THE OFFICIAL .. pronunciation of his name …is Ka-PAN IN ..!!! WITH THE "PAN " PART MOST EMPHASIZED ..!! YES ITS NOT .."KAP" A- NIN …BUT . KA PAN IN …!! ALSO …DE-"MEE"-DOV…IS THE WAY HE WANTS IT PRONOUNCED..!!

  5. As far as I am concerned, those who don't like fighting in hockey should stick to watching women's hockey! Pro hockey is a tough, physical, sport and softies should not be playing in the NHL, or, watching it. Most fans like the occasional scrap on the ice. You have to have the threat of dropping the gloves to protect the players who can't handle that!

  6. Young guys vying for jobs they probably won't get. Ottawa sat starters, Montreal did the same. Anyone tough guy who wanted to make an impression, tried but ran into opposition.

  7. Hodgson is a 29 year old who will never become an NHLer is all we need to know about Green’s lineup.

  8. Regards to fighting in hockey…no matter if you are for it or against, until the NHL gets serious with it's punishment&accountability (because a peanuts $2000 fine for intent to injure in a nothing game esp a team's star player is not going to do it)…that unwritten rule of retribution, sending a message, and unfortunately, if the NHL won't do anything about it…the players on the ice will. I will be honest and say I find fighting in hockey entertainment…BUT with that said, seeing a player get seriously hurt as DD mentioned, is not something any fan should find any enjoyment from. This is my concern for Florian Xhekaj making the Habs…yes he brings size, yes he brings toughness & grit which this team needs in their team arsenal BUT, lets be honest, he will be expected to fight and help protect his teammates from time to time…and at 21, only 1 full AHL season, and seeing his fight against a mature experienced fighter like Nic Deslauriers for example…one punch could quickly change someone's career path…also I would like to see Florian continue to gain experience in all aspects of the game…along with 5on5, some PP, PK, face-offs, key situations, get some first line, 2nd line minutes in Laval, rather than limited playing time and in and out of the lineup play wth the Habs. No need to rush…give the job to Blais, an experienced, tough, Stanley Cup winning player…if as the season draws on, you wish to make a change, then sure, send down Blais if he is not doing the job and bring up Florian…but again, no need to rush a young player that has potential to be a great player for years to come. I need to give MSL full credit for his line combinations vs Ott…when I saw the lines, I was scratching my head…but I have to admit, the Dach&Gally combo…the growing chemistry (still early!) between Demidov&Kapanen (I still would like to see Bolduc w/Demidov, but I do understand the need to make sure you don't have an all lefty line…maybe Bolduc-Kap-Demidov? but I do like the speed that Newhook adds to keep up with Demidov). Anyways, Saturday vs Ott will be an interesting one…my hope, MSL has a lineup w/o Demidov and Hutson and a more level headed lineup…hopefully the refs before the game give a stern warning to both clubs…but lets face it, the temperature keeps rising w/ these 2 teams…there will be at LEAST one fight…my prediction if Cousins is in the lineup, he will probably be enemy #1 and if Stuzle & Gally are playing, I expect them to go at it as usual. We definitely do not need any unnecessary injuries and dumb suspensions esp at the start of the season. Final thoughts…super impressed w/Carrier & Matheson, still want Arber Xhekaj to react better w/the puck in pressured situations…want to see a strong game from Monty in net if he plays bc if Monty does not have a good season, this team will have a rough go. And I would like to see Dobson have a strong game…he's going to need time but hopefully not long to acclimatize to his new teammates and system. Go Habs Go!
