sad to see him go wish him the best in Mormon town… hopefully Kesselring finds a spark this season
I don't see it that way. The Sabres biggest team need was a defense partner for Owen Power, and they filled that need with this trade. There are very few trade options for a RHD that fit the description of Kesselring, especially when the Noah Dobson trade fell through. A 27 goal, smaller scoring winger who doesn't play defense, isn't a center, is not a forechecker, penalty killer or fighter is easier to replace than a big defender. the Sabres were top 10 in goal scoring last year, but the problem was that they were a wimpy team who couldn't fight, keep the puck out of their own net and couldn't protect leads. Doan could be the best forechecker on the Sabres. Look at the McLeod for Savoie trade. It doesn't match up value wise, but it helped our team immensely. saying things like Doan is "just a 4th liner", or With Kesselring, The Sabres will "try him on the 2nd pair" shows a bias towards Peterkas upside and downplays the importance of what we got back. Peterka finished the season on our 3rd line because of his defensive deficiencies.
