The planned dach ivan demi second line has no chance. Laine has no business playing 5 on 5 on any line.

I’ve said it 48hrs ago on one of Basu & Godin episodes , I even said that the habs made a major mistake on Dobson , the islanders knew he had a major injury and traded a young 70 pts defenseman pretty fast , that’s why bluejackets pulled outta that race cause of Dobson’s health , I’ve also said for 2 years that Reinbacher was never good and that no athlete in history in any sports has ever came back from those type of injuries at the same level , Reinbacher’s level was already shit so
Where are the guys praising that imaginary Reinbacher potential for the passed 2 years ? This guy has never been good let alone great at any level or at any time in his career , he struggled wherever he ever played , except for a 7 game stint in a covid tournament . This pick is embarrassing AF!
Now imagine if Dobson doesn’t pan out or keeps on getting injured! What a mess . Not drafting Cooley and demidov has set this team back 5 years and that 17 millions tied up in Slafkovsky and Dobson isn’t helping
The habs aren’t making the playoffs this year , they lost their 3 best defensive players , they added injury prone offensive defenseman . The habs pk will be brutal and Suzuki will be forced to play big minute on the PK . Plus trading mailloux will also cost the habs
If the habs drafted michkov and Cooley , they wouldn’t have to look for a centerman right now , they wouldn’t have to traded mailloux to go get some marginal French winger when you could have michkov instead

Laine should only play on PP. Suzuki is so good and has a very keen defensive mind and he is the only centre able to offset Laine huge weaknesses if you must do play him. Demidov must have a protector. So, I’ll put him with Slav and Bolduc, called them the Kids Line.

Lucas Condotta could fill a center role. He skates steadily strong, wins face-offs, shoots left and seems to be a smart player – I only watched him about 5 games but I did like what I saw.
Not good when 2 of your 3 actual RH D already hurt, Dobson seems less erious
Elevating Bolduc seems like a no brainer.
I thought Roy attacked more aggressively and battled harder than I've seen before. I'm not sure if he has the skills to finish plays, but at least he can hunt. But can he do it consistently?
I'm the biggest Laine fan since 2016, have watched 99 % of his games, and seen his ups and downs. I need to see him step it up from game 2. I think he was better in game 1; he was more active throughout the game. Of course, just because he skated the entire summer, unlike before, he didn't do it with game intensity for 60 minutes. So, he probably needs reps in. But I wanna see him keep the intensity throughout the entire 60 minutes, at least in 80 % of the games. Every player has off nights, but 80 % of the time, you need to step up. I need him to be the Patrik Laine I saw in 21-22 and 22-23 when he was producing point-per-game. That guy was significantly better than the one who played for the Jets or the one we saw last year (though last year was understandable). He'll never be a defensive genius, and he doesn't need to be. Fans need to stop wishing that; it's not needed. What's needed is intensity, hunger, and hunting.
The truth is we have absolutely no idea what Kirby Dach’s “best” looks like anymore. The club failed in finding a suitable 2C. Now we have to go to the science fair for the 3rd season in a row. I love it here

You mentioned that a lot of the prospects will not be making the Habs. Hopefully, Kent will convert them into a better draft pick in the future. Not unlike Jordan Harris (3rd round pick) for a 2nd round pick! Got complete confidence in our management team. Extend them!!!
Demidov needs to be with the 2nd most reliable center right now, which is Evans. And they need a winger with pace, grit, who's responsible defensively and who can shot, meaning Bolduc. The guys that need to figure it out can play together as a line that needs to figure it out : Laine, Dach, Newhook.
I think 12th fwd is down to Beck, Kapanen or Xhekaj. I like the sand paper of Beck and Xhekaj more than what Kapanen brings at this point. I also think Bolduc may overtake Laine on no. 2 line if Laine doesn't get going… 13th fwd is Valeno or maybe Blais. The rest are Laval or Europe I think.
