Flames really haven't played as bad as everyone is laying on. The Avs played hard from game one and the Flames were chasing most of the series. 2 games ended in ot in Colorados favour. If Calgary had won those 2 games in OT it may have been the Flames moving on to round 2.
who cares how many saves he has, he gives up 3+ each game.
Smith, Hamonic and Sam Bennet are the only guys showing up. Lindholm and Backlund have been good on the penalty kill. Other than that, radio silence

Calgary made a critical error in matching Lindholm-Monahan-Goudreau against MacKinnons line. MacKinnon just skated circles around all of them for 99% of the time they were on ice together which only meant the Calgary top line never got to touch the puck. They needed to shuffle the match up and maybe they would have done something
44 years old, and only twice in those years did the Flames not manage to disappoint me.
But this year more than any other, they were on a whole new level of suck. Seriously pondering cheering for them any longer, I can't take it any more. How can the Roster change, but the team stay the same? Year after Year of underachieving, no matter who is on the ice…
I've never seen a supposed 1st place team have no game like that. It's like they said…. well this isn't working so I'm done. Tbh, they've been playing like that for awhile. Especially the big line.

The mike smith doubters were morons. I challenge anyone to go play 10 years in that desert shithole of a franchise and keep your game as sharp as long as mike smith did. All He needed was a good playoff series to bring his game back to form. Same thing happened with Eric staal in Minnesota, once the chance at success came back, so did his game.
The Av's are legit and they played accordingly. They had a very tough couple of months but keep in mind they were one of the top three or four teams at the start of the season and at the end. I just think Calgary was caught off guard by Colorado. Same can be said for most of the people in sports media, who almost all got this one wrong.
