I was so happy to hear this news. I think Reimer got shafted hard especially after Lamoriello traded him in 2015-16 season, was devestated a homegrown guy, the last real goalie we developed, remember Toronto basically was buying other teams goalies after 2013. I always loved him as a leaf, he was the goalie in the first game I attended back in 2013, March 23, 2013 against Boston. Ive always wanted him back since, especially with the naysayers telling me to "pound salt", and fans thinking I was stupid for even thinking it, even I think Darguy said it wouldn't happen, Honestly, I think I might've found the player that's going on my NextGen jersey, if he signs a true NHL deal, ill do it.

It's not as bad as it could be, though I would expect Hildeby to be the regular 3rd-stringer, for development, not Reimer.

This basically echoes my sentiments. Him as a player, I remember him getting schooled in the shootout by Pittsburgh and in general one year. He improved the next year. His glove hand was not great, he improved. His blocker side was exposed and I think they let him go. Not a fan of his approach to Pride Night. Not sure why MLSE would entertain adding a player whose values don’t align with theirs?
It's a really odd thing about Reimer. He's popular wherever he goes, he's so damn likeable. He's like everyone's favourite brother that we all can't help pulling for.

Like Reimer or Hate him, I respect him for standing up for his beliefs and not being pressured into giving in. Regardless of how we feel on the subject. I to was a huge Reimer fan and was not a fan of what happened to him after the Boston Meltdown. I wish him luck on the PTO and I agree as a 3rd stringer and someone you can rely on to step up I do believe he still has it in him. But can he get past the Leaf Media and his Past Demons with the meltdown.

It was quite clear the original intention was to give Akhtyamov and Hidleby more playing time on the Marlies, but this is perfect with Woll out for now.
He should clear waivers at 37, so we can call up Hildeby to start and just see if he’s ready.
Then Riemer can mentor our young tandem in the A unless he gets called up, plays well and gets claimed.

Should be a good option for the Leafs. Regarding his personal feelings about not wanting to wear a Pride jersey, he already stated his religious beliefs (as did a few other players). It's not like he hates gay people. His job is to play hockey (goalie in this case), not be a spokesman for the Pride community. It's ok for people to have different opinions and beliefs, that's what makes us human.

Well thankfully many like Reimer stood for there beliefs and for the better of the sport and we kept our pride of keeping it what it should only be about, Hockey, not an outside agenda. Religion, politics, ect have no place in hockey

The book was always out on Reimer. He can't catch. François Alaire, the goaltending coach at the time tried to get him to use it as a blocker. Just swat at the puck. Other than thats good goalie and he battles, that's all you can ask for, which is why the glove thing sucks
