So just going to say something that others may find challenging. For me, upgrading a goalie the upgrade has to be a LOT better than what you have for NOT A LOT of extra money (IF ANY) because we don't have money. Someone goes to make room.
You put Pickard (who, just a reminder, won 6 straight Playoff games against GOOD teams last year and pulled us out of the fire the year before in the playoffs) on waivers he's gone. You put Stu on waivers, lets see, the goalie who got you to the finals 2 years in a row and is cost effective this year, humn, he's gone too. Is that a "bad" thing? Which part of 6 wins in a row during the playoffs and got you to the cup finals 2 years in a row wasn't an indicator it would be a BAD thing? Who do you think we're going to get for a combined under 4 mil a year?
Do you think Florida is going to retain 1/2 of Bob and have another team retain another 25% (if you can still do that) and he'd come here knowing that we know he's in his mid 30's and he's not getting an 8 year contract again (because you can't give 8 years anymore) and it's doubtful he's getting profane money for max term because odds are he'll degrade and, oh yeah, he has to pay taxes here?
