Edmonton Oilers News: Goalie Waivers Rumors | Coaching Issues? | Injuries

The Edmonton Oilers have some injuries at camp, and are now in the Connor Ingram trade rumor mill. Also, as coaching decisions get squared away, will there be issues with the coaching this year, or will things just play out fine?

  1. We don't even have enough cap space for Ingram so I'm not sure how we would make that work and several other teams are interested in claiming him off waivers so i doubt he drops to us.

  2. Great summary of all today's topics; I like your take on the delicate Calivin / Stu push & pull – like you said based on playoff perf Calivin has earned a significant split of games early this season but that has to be balanced with giving Stu one more runway to prove he is an NHL caliber starting goalie (by Trade Deadline).

Lot's of talking heads saying last night's game was so bad and boring I even heard – but I actually thought it was an entertaining game particularly seeing all the young guns mixed with the vets. The Oilers dramatically outplayed the Kraken. McD had two glorious chances with a highlight-reel goal just barely slipping away after he deked out everyone out of their pants to get all alone, and another where again he was an inch away – he could have easily had 2 goals right there. So it's not like it was one-sided; the Oilers had pressure on Kraken almost all game and just didn't get the lucky bounces (and one too many passes). Kraken capitlized on their chances; unfortuantely same story Stu cannot seem to give us a clutch save or bailout when we need it. Anyway, we'll see what happens come opening night but I'm optimistic so far as preseason has actually been pretty good including last night's game.

  3. Give Jonsson a start next game and have him play as long as Stuart Skinner played against the Kraken. He needs some more starts and this is the best way for him to get them.
