I just cant see Toews being 4th liner like Barron/Gus even an Appleton/Tanev. Wont be injured as much as Gagner was.
Hes at least a 3rd line center. But theres lots of older guys suceeding i see Toews compared to Backlund,Danualt,Staal putting up 15-20g and 20-30a.35-49pts.
I dont see how unless make huge deal anything out there even closer to deadline making sense thats better than Toews/Nyquist. Chinakov,Rust,Marchessault,Rakell,Robertson,Novak arnt upgrades or big enough difference.
And guys like Barzal,Schenn,McCann,Kadri wont be cheap. Jets have never really brought a huge name in unless forced to like PLD/Laine. Unwilling at times do big moves. Which i dislike if your going pay at deadline a 1st or picks for Rakell,Rust,Marchessault just throw more in a 2nd or Lambert/Barlow and get a big name whos signed.
As for grace period he wont have one fans understand arnt like Marner/Toronto fans. Wont turn on him he also has a good attitude/leadership not like PLD,Kane who fans didnt like off ice. Wont be a cancer like Wheeler was last year he was here. Fans will just be happy hes hometown loves city and wanted be here hes not asked be top 6 hes helped young guys already and said he will play wherever Arniel wants him.
And if he doesnt pane out nothing was lost. We didnt have a plan for someone better in offseaon/Vlad can fill spot i think Chevy views Nyquist same. Didnt cost asset
I was happy illegal curve at fan fest Schenn stayed 30+ minutes longer than other jets players to sign autographs meet fans.
I see pearson same putting up 10-15g bottom 6 move up if injuries. Jets will keep him since played U20s with Scheifele and Barrie with Hawerchuk will be treated like family.
