QUESTION OF THE DAY — What Were YOUR Takeaways From Last Night's Preseason Opener?
Glad you gave Soderblom credit. I know most people don’t like him. But I’ll definitely give him props. And I feel bad for Bedard he seemed like the only one wanting to win. “Preseason or not” outside of Soderblom. If he could have done it by himself I believe he would’ve
Thanks for the show👍👍
New coach, new system, new league, new teammates, some combination of these for everyone yesterday, nothing to be surprised about
Definitely taking this first preseason game with a grain of salt, but here are some positive, negative, and neutral takeaways:
Positive:
– Bedard definitely looks, bigger, faster and stronger. He was noticeable on every shift
– Rinzel looks and is playing like an NHL defenseman
– Soda is a legit goaltender. People love to hate on him for his 23-24 season, but he played extremely well imo last year and made huge strides, and if that continues he can play himself into a 1b role (Not just a designated backup).
– Oliver Moore had a really solid game imo. Didn’t light the world on fire, but definitely looked like he belonged.
Negative:
-EDM looked absolutely atrocious (completely agree with Scott Powers) The guy was slow, terrible gap control, was constantly late picking up his guy, took a penalty, a lot of bad passes, and just looked lost out there. If you are wearing the right sweater I’m gonna root for ya, but man not a great performance there, hopefully he picks it up bc he showed flashes of positive last year
– Arty was inconsistent, some good some bad
– Dach didn’t play very well with the opportunity given to him. (I do agree he played his role though)
Neutral:
– Korch wasn’t noticeable in this game, but I think that could be a hidden positive. I thought he played pretty solid defensively and gapped up well. Thats the biggest thing Hawks fans wanted to see him improve in was his defensive game
