I'm all for paying players, but if you've only played two years, and aren't a first overall pick, then take a decent contract that's offered, and.make bank in UFA. Luke's agent complaining about his client not getting a "Deal" for the team, but instead wants him to make more now, is B.S.
I love the idea of Gritsyuk with Jack and Bratter on offense, but Gritsyuk has shown worse defense than Jack through two preseason games. Grits and Jack would be a nightmare defensively IMO.
Ace I know you love Dougie. As you said yourself the team could use forward help. But how would you get that with no cap space? You could try and move Palat but that's only 6 Mil. Luke is going to get most of that. I honestly think the only logical solution is moving on from Dougie while he still has value. It's not about him being terrible or anything but it just makes sense seeing as we have a million NHL ready defenseman and hardly any forward depth aside from Halonen whom I believe could be a great third line guy for usm
The only time for the Hughes Triumvirate to play in NJ is in the next three years, and Luke and Quinn will have to work with Fitz to make it happen. Because if all three bros want to play together, it isn't happening after they all reach free agency. No team will be able to fit all three under one Salary Cap.
I truly believe that this team looks better without the Hughes brothers. Between the contract holdout & Jack just avoiding contact at all times, they are not Heavier, Edgier & More Violent. They are fairy dust.
I’d rather have $18 million into 3 other excellent $6 million dollar players. Our team looks way different and I bet we become a powerhouse.

Im right here with you….Im done talking about Luke. Heres the deal, if the offer is 8x 8.5-9 and Luke is still saying no, he can sit the whole year for all I care. Hes good, hes not great. Yet anyway (maybe never and injury prone thus far) What he is forgetting is the devils own him, hes an rfa. Additionally, the devils are stacked w talent on the back end. Legit talent. Casey, Nemec, Kovy (when he returns), Edwards kid looks legit. Then you Silayev, maybe your best prospect. Luke is quickly using up all of his good will here. Hes risking a lot, with a lot of money already on the table. He keeps this up, were going to forget his name.

Don't know if anyone brought this up but I'm sorry, I know you had Don on and it was a great interview but he stinks. The guy is so dull and monotone, long lapses during play, can't be bothered to pronounce even our own players names and is just plain old generic background noise to the game. Ugh, it's been brutal. I actually looked forward to Sal and Dano rambling on and on so I didn't have to here him.
The Devils have are very lucky to have such amazing broadcasters over the years, this aint it. Don is a massive downgrade, yuck.
