For me, they are forever bound because it's a too similar scenario. An RFA under 24 with similar stats. Oilers found room to prioritize youth for Pod at 2.9 but wouldn't find room to prioritize youth for Holloway at 2.2. Yes, Oilers bought an extra UFA year for Pod and emotionally I'm sure Bowman didn't want to match nor did he have all the cap room to match. But still, a young RFA with similar stats and Oilers gave up on one but not another. It also doesn't escape me that Holloway will be looking for 6+ on his next contract, but I would argue, isn't that a problem you would like to have? I young 25 year old with back to back 25 goal seasons that is team controlled? You now have leverage and can trade or move a contract. ?? I'm not a GM but I just like to feel like it.
