NHL Suspends Voracek for 2 Games

This does surprise me, so let’s check out the reasoning for the suspension. https://twitter.com/NHLPlayerSafety/status/1104857392225890304

  1. Matheson gets the same suspension as this. What a joke, pettersson was out for how long? I think suspensions should be based on intent and injury. Like if there’s intent (both in this case and matheson) they are out for as long as the injured player plus some extra time.

  2. The puck was dumped around the boards. Both players were skating to were the puck eventually would go, voracek was closer. Boychuk was going to pin Vorcek against the boards bc he would have the puck, but voracek leaned back and hit Boychuk. The puck wasn’t near them yet, either. Voracek hit a guy without the puck. Easy penalty and suspension.

  3. What the nhl is saying here is that the better play to make in voraceks situation was to swing his stick at boychucks Head if he did that he’d only be out one game

  4. I’ve seen that hit several times this season unpunished do we have to rewatch all the games this year and start suspending

  5. I dont really get why people aren't ok with this suspension. Clear interference with a hit to the head. Am I the only one that sees Boychuk trying to get to the puck in the corner before Voracek? He wasn't skating in to hit him.

  6. I saw the hit. It’s a grey area for sure. But all of these idiots in the comments section think they’re NHL officials that know less than shit. That’s a tough decision the NHL has to make. Meanwhile, all these moron keyboard warrior tough guys’ biggest decisions are whether or not to ask people if they want their meal supersized at the drive thru they work at.

  7. Your opinion would come off as a little less biased if you weren't wearing a flyers jersey, lol. Just saying. As an Isles fan I wouldn't say it was dirty, but boychuk got hit in the head. These days, the nhl suspends you for hits to the head(usually).

  8. Only Player safety can make a flyer’s player who is about to get hit (Jake) by a guy with a questionable hitting record (Boychuck) and make the hitter into the victim. I’m all for player safety, but this is just ridiculous. When you are charging toward a hockey player you should expect contact. To have player safety say that Boychuck isn’t expecting it, while putting his hands up) is just plain nonsense. Thank you Shannon for seeing the hatred the league has for Philly. Love the Jersey by the way. #letsgoflyers

  9. At this point I don’t think it matters what it looked like. Head contact interference is two games automatic it seems

  10. I'm sorry, i agree with this reason. Not on the puck and made contact to the head

  11. The hypocrisy in the nhl office is unreal. Malkin got one game for trying to take raffls head off. What a joke. Gary needs to go

  12. I think this should be 1 game because no history in so many games played. Too me it's clear Voracek lunged to his left and hits him high away from the puck

  13. A Nick Fury quote in Avengers sums up my opinion on it when he talks about the council decision

  14. Seems that players and fans do not understand that NHL wants hits to the head out of the game. They have to penalize players harder in order to get the message through

  15. This is a complete and uttter travesty. Voracek getting two games for NOTHING.

I won’t say any more because I’m about to lose my fucking mind over it. Just a horrific call by the NHL HORRIFIC. HORRIFIC. HORIFFIC.

  16. That shouldn't have even been a five minute major, let alone a suspension. Voracek braced for a hit from behind that he saw coming from a mile away. The league has basically just told all the players that if someone is going to ram you from behind, don't you dare try to protect yourself or you're getting suspended.

  17. I just watched this play, and imp, it's ridiculous. Boychuk is the one who engages Vorachek, tough luck when you go into a situation like that and it doesn't turn out as you had planned.

  18. malkin gets 1 for try to decapitate someone, gabriel gets 1for running patrick from behind, Chara gets nothing for blatant head contact, Mantha gets nothing for cross checking girouxs head into the boards from behind and voracek gets 2? so according to the DOPS voracek's hit was the worst of these 5

  19. I don't understand this suspension at all, and I hate the Voracek almost as much as I hate the team he plays for. Boychuk litterly runs into him yes there is interference, but this is almost exactly the same as the Malkin and Oshie play earlier in the year.

  20. i think for non-aggressive penalties, a fine would be better. it sends a message and has more benefits because the money goes to the relief fund.

  21. Worth it. If Voracek wouldve went for the puck he'd be out with a concussion. Boychuck was gonna demo voracek. Is what it is. Good on Voracek.

  22. Between this, finally being good for part of a season, and the whole Tavares thing, Islanders fans have been insufferable this year
