As a Houston fan, it’s the organization’s fault. They’ve failed to build around him on a roster and coaching level to build off his sensational rookie year. I mean the sheer fact that after last season we didn’t improve the oline tells you everything you need to know about the front office. As much as I hate to admit it, but I would not be shocked if he walks away on his rookie deal and has a Geno Smith-Seattle or Baker Mayfield-Tampa type turnaround.

People don't realize the Texans /oilers/ Houston culture teaches their players second place is acceptable and wait till next year.Stroud,d carr Watson sacked till they are shocked silly. Those guys were winners all there life's till they got to Houston. There off line has been trash since they got rid of Duane brown years ago for standing up for his people. In the 80s they had parades for the oilers after losing to the Steelers 😂 nothing wrong with support. But hey they could have got a name OC but they chose the GMs Patriot friend to run the offense. Remember if you came from the patriots organization, in Houston you are royalty. Even the patriots I think ex Chaplin ran the Texans organization in the background a couple of years ago. They are a joke. Head coach was a former Texan. He should have forseen this😢

The qb is the Texans first problem. The o line is the second problem
From a Texans fan, the O line is collapsing at all the wrong times. So they're having to max protect against a 5 or 6 man rush, that's only sending out 2 routes. You have 2 receivers, 1 of which can't get separation and get open and the other is Nico who's fighting against man and the Zone. If you watch some of his plays when he's getting the ball, there's 3 dudes on him right away. Not being able to block well or consistently is leading to a bunch of Tampa 2 defensive looks, which once that it was figured out that was Stroud's kryptonite, more and more teams have shown that look while disguising it really well.
Another factor to look at is the play calls. Too many 5-7 step dropbacks which require him to hold the ball longer. Caley wants to run these to rely heavily on PA calls and to fool the defense. Which they aren't because his playcalling is just as predictable as Slowiks. And since the running game has been so bad, there's no leaning on it keep the defense honest. It's just pin your ears back every play because the line is bad. His calls are on his mentality or approach. He's a run first type of guy. With little to no gain each run, it's hard to stay on the field to gain momentum. When you go from 1st and 10, to 2nd and 9, then whether you throw a dink and dunk pass out to the flats for 3 or run for 3 you're still at 3rd and 6. That's barring nobody on the line gets called for holding. So at 3rd and 6 and an anemic rushing offense, the defense knows you're going to pass, and thus the kryptonite appears. Cover 2.
Absolutely no explosive plays. As far as I'm concerned, the Texans only scored 3 points last week because the long td to Nico was on a busted coverage.
CJ doesn't look like the same guy because he's been given the David Carr treatment. The amount of times he's been hit as he's getting to his hitch or there just isn't anyone open- it's ridiculous. Sometimes last year he held the ball for too long instead of letting it fly which gave the defenders time to turn on it and make a play.
I think he's lost trust and faith in the people around him. It's also not helping having Tank sit out. He was the guy who could take the top off AND get separation. Not to mention Diggs is gone too.
I think he can be salvaged but it's going to take a change is playcalling mindset to help some. I think the team should go pass first instead of run. Put him in the shotgun so he doesn't have such a long timed dropback. Air it out! The defense is going to have to stay honest once you start connecting those passes. FAR TOO reliant on the run to open up the passing! Would love to see them opening drive against the Titans and only pass until you see a shift then hit them with a run after 5 or 6 straight passes.
Lastly, the organization ONLY seems to want to hire ex Patriots members, still holding onto that idea of Patriots South! Maybe hire someone with a different mindset from a different coaching tree? It only worked because Brady is the GOAT. He also took paycuts to help the team give him more support. Times have changed and so has the league.
To be fair, 1 of the interceptions was because the O line collapsed and it was tipped at the line. Just saying.

CJ should be looking ahead to free agency, he has no hope of success in Houston…his is a repeat of David Carr's career in Houston…the general manager and coach should be fired and the owner find a football mind like the Oilers Bud Adams found Sid Gilliam, who rebuilt the Oilers into a contender by building the offensive line first, and the defensive secondary second, and the running game third…stop trying to blame CJ for the offense woes…he's just one man, all of the blame is not his…
