Barry Trotz. That’s the end of the preview.
Some more perspective on this year, the preds have adapted their defense system for this season as it did not work last year, and we also had a lot of injuries/out players last season on D. The changes should benefit Saros greatly. At forward last year the vet players came in and werent sure how to be, basically. It seems like this year they are more comfortable and have spent a lot of time discussing and planning internally. I think the "everyone had a down season" thing will go away, and the biggest question mark remains how is Svechkov going to do as 2c, he is only 22 this season and in his sophomore year, but will probably be the bottleneck of this team at this stage of his career, unfortunately. Hopefully he "is insane" as Steve said

Barry Trotz might be the worse GM in the league when you look at it in totality. At least the Pens are clearly rebuilding and will move Rust/Rakell for likely first round picks this year. The Preds really don’t look like that is the plan.

But seriously, I actually am kinda hoping for another bad year. Honestly, tank. Watching the team from 2017-2021 was awesome! But, the window is closed. I will forever love those teams, but the time is here for a rebuild. And, I don’t know if Trotz is the guy I trust for a rebuild. Keep anyone who wants to stay to mentor the young ones. Anyone who wants out, let them free of this crap show and get nice pieces back. We are good enough that we can speed through the rebuild. If we wait, and all our players age out or leave through free agency, then we get nothing and the rebuild will take longer like Chi and SJ. Why not trade away who we have in our prime to suck worse and get good draft picks as well as draft picks or prospects already 1/2 cooked into NHLers in return from trades. I know the lottery is not to be relied on. But, a top 1-5 pick for another 2 years to gather star talent in addition to Martin and some of the guys we already have… that sounds awesome. Few other first rounders to fill out the team would also be accepted. A few guys stick around as Preds to shelter the young ones. It does not have to be a 8 year rebuild. At least not 8 years at the bottom. Maybe 2-3 years at the bottom and 3-4 years building our way into contention. The team should not be happy with just making the playoffs as an 8 seed. I want a cup contending team. And the current preds are far off from that. Im happy we tried to go for it with Stammer and company last year. But, they didn’t do it for the team. Now, we use what we have to jump start the rebuild. Then again, Trotz is the GM. So, we are going to get the 1st overall pick and somehow use it on Steve Dangle because Trotz said, “I like his size and ability to fall ungracefully on the ice” the Tennessean reports. Ugh… I will die a Predators (the hockey team) fan. But, by Hepheustus’ forge… I see a bleak future. We can’t even sign Evangelista with $9.5 mill in cap space and nothing to use it one. Will it make or break the team, no. Not even close. But is it a litmus test of how things are going in the organization, yes. Anyway… this ends my rant. As I started off this comment, I will end it the same. Lets go Preds!
