Thanks for those who’ve pointed out the 3 year deal given to Chris Wilder by the owners. I’d forgotten that happened…😮
Wilder is the best championship manager out there right now but I doubt he’s going back to Utd cos of bad blood between him and the owners … more likely he’ll go to Wrexham after Parkinson gets sacked in the second international break (oops did I say that!?!ðŸ¤) they’ll drop a caretaker manager in there for now and take the next few weeks to get the right guy. Whoever that is has an uphill struggle though … at the moment Utd definitely have a Luton vibe to them !
Where as I don’t think Seles was the right guy at `Sheffield United he will find another job
Please take Farke of us. He’s good in the championship
Actually your wrong ferrari dont allow modifications 😉 😂😂 i just messing with ya but that is a fact lol
Being honest i am more worried the current owners don't have a scooby doo
Feel a bit sorry for him. The board sent him into bat with a stick of rhubarb and only made good in the transfer window far too late. The players weren't playing for him though. Something was clearly not working.
Football needs a makeover quick
I understand the sacking- unusually for me given that I think sacking managers rarely has as much impact as a lot of fans for me. I don't think re-appointing Wilder is a very good idea. He's more than capable, but how they treated him is going to be in the back of his mind, and that could seriously derail things quickly.
Sadly, wrong man for the job, end of. Our season starts on Saturday.
Worse than Heath, Adkins, Weir and Adams. We looked good going forward in preseason, high line high press, but it just took one through ball to rip us apart. We saw that in the Bristol game, the result spooked Selles and then it was just aimless long ball. Selles was a bizarre appointment, but at least COH have addressed their mistake PDQ.
Reuben selles was never an upgrade to Chris Wilder neither have they been solid in the transfer window and loss of high credibility of players.
An interim coach should stead the ship for them while there's a sparkle in the group.
The buck stops at the top. They dithered over the sacking of Wilder. The window resembled a blend of AI and Moneyball. On Friday, the confidence visibly drained after the second goal, and they looked resigned to their fate. Played like a relegation candidate after that. Selles has to take the blame, along with the players. Still plenty of time to grab a playoff place. That would send the shivers down the fan base.
Sheffield United’s season so far has been a disaster let’s tell it like it is we have heard of a hangover from last season’s Play-Off Final but don’t think any of us expected their start to the season to be this bad Reuben Selles’ appointment was a questionable decision as he plays a system much different to Chris Wilder Sheffield United are known to be a physical side so this system they played was way out of their comfort zone losing to Bristol City in the opening game it was bad but some might have thought it was the kick up the backside they needed but then things got worse and the latest defeat this past Friday at the hands of Ipswich Town was a new low for Sheffield United (great performance from Ipswich by the way Ben it might be the result that kicks start Ipswich’ season) the sacking was inevitable as they know this can’t continue question now is who will be their next manager will they reappoint Chris Wilder or do they bring someone else
He was a fraud and charlatan. Absolute clown that should never have been appointed. Lost the dressing room after 2 games. Then his idiotic power mover to drop Hamer. Good riddance to that absolute dong Selles.
As a blade I’m happy to see he’s been let go he seems to be a decent manager but not the right fit for us but I’m sure he’ll find a good team
Ruben should walked away himself should not need pushing those sheff fans be happy derby fan here living in new zealand Benjamin you right about derby think they move up the table good manager
Sammy Chung was sacked first day of the season and was replaced by Kerry Dixon 96/97 at Doncaster Rovers by the infamous Ken Richardson.
Dave Challinor ……..
Do think you can judge results on such a small sample size of 5 matches but the issue for me was the performances were worse than the results. We looked OK ish most matches but the alarming aspect was we rarely created chances, only 1 goal this season and hardly any shots on target all season. Also the defence look very leaky conceding goals from defensive slackness. Couldn’t tell what the tactics were, players looked lost and confused with several playing out of position. Last match against Ipswich he puts our best player Hamer and only scored Campbell on the subs bench, at that point I’m even thinking whether Selles deliberately tried to be sacked so he could have a pay-off. Strong rumours suggesting Wilder is back which gaurantees a top half finish with a reasonable outside chance of play-offs.
I have watched in professional sports over my 64 years. You have head coaches guiding their teams to success. You want more and it doesn’t work out. You need to leave well enough alone. It doesn’t work out well in the long run. As a Wednesday supporter I would have never sacked Wilder. You would have been competing for Championship success. Unfortunately, you may have been lucky getting rich, it doesn’t mean you’re smart. At Wednesday we are not expecting success until we get rid of an incompetent owner. I still don’t want to see United feeling our pain. 😢
Selles would be out of his depth managing the Dog and Duck, complete Clown
Its not like us getting sacked. he is laughing to the bank.
I think he was doing an outstanding job, just what United needed, OK ok I'm a biased owl 😂😂😂😂😂
It was all very predictable I'm afraid. I posted beggining of the season sheff utd dark horses for relegation. Other people had them top 2 which was nuts. However sacking selles early has given them a chance…. of staying up.
Ipswich fan. Thought United support was magnificent after the 5-0 and, despite your troubles, things could be worse…You could have been a Derby supporter watching 100 minutes of their team's anti-football the week before. At least you gave us a game in the first half.
AT LAST 🙂
As a Leeds fan I’d be happy in the championship-last season was great especially against the blades – premiership is so boring predictable mot
