The St. Louis Blues fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 on Septemeber 21, 2025, in the second leg of a preseason opening weekend back-to-back for the Blues.
The lone St. Louis goal was scored by Nikita Alexandrov and assisted by Justin Carbonneau and Milan Lucic, and goaltenders Joel Hofer and Vadim Zherenko split time in net.

Boy, boys, boys. This is not lookin like the team I saw last year. We let the jackets hold us defensively the entirety of the game, even on PK. Seemed like the puck was on our side of neutral zone forever. All I can say that is working is, sucking the defensemen down low and swinging the puck around to the left wing. The only two goals in the past two games have been from there, please take notes. How did we play so close to a good team(Dallas) and then get whooped by one of the worst teams. You buys better dig deep arriving at enterprise. Don’t make us fans wait another couple decades for the glory of the cup. It starts right now. So many people dream to be on that ice, so please prove to us fans that you are a dominant team this year. I hate to hate on my team so hard but I have to give this game a 1/10. For the next game, get those three guys high. Wingers need to be shifting in and out of corners. We are dominant there. We are getting beat on back checks! Which is why wingers need to shift from corners to slot/top circle area quicker. Rock n roll boys🤟🏼

My friends, it's pre season, don't panic, we will be fine
I know that the preseason is not supposed to mean anything but with all of the hype about this team when it comes to actually watching them pay THUS FAR I'm not impressed. Not yet. I'm seeing very low scoring, missing passes pucks flying off their stick and missed nets. Same as always. Show me something new. Give me something to write home about. When you see how well Dallas was skating, passing and shooting with their prospects, they embarrassed this Blues team. If these guys want to make this roster they better play a lot better. I expected much better out of them. Carboneau is the only one who has impressed me so far. I sure hope they aren't going to go into the season playing this sloppy and making this many mistakes.
