There might be another whole week of football games to skip!?!
There used to be six preseason games, before they went to a 16 game schedule
NFL: We care about player health and safety
Also the NFL: MOAR GAMES!!!
They probably want to hit 20 games a season. I say you start training camp earlier, get at least 4 games in for the preseason and add a 2nd bye week. This will allow for more double headers and the ability to showcase more teams once the league expands again.
The only way they can do 18 game schedule work is to add another bye week and shorten the preseason into 2 games making it an 20 week schedule by giving players another week of extra rest.
great look brother.
I think the league should have 2 bye weeks, one week the NFC is on a bye and the next is the AFC, what are your thoughts?
It's not a matter of if, but when.
The NFL has been talking about this for at least the last 20 years and the only ways they can do it, IMHO:
-Go to two Pre Season games(Coaches and Owners are against)
-Two Bye Weeks like you mentioned(Not happening because you would have to start the Season Earlier i.e the middle of August)
-Expansion(Outside of San Antonio, Mexico City, Honolulu which I think can work or Germany, what are the options?)
It is a great idea on paper, but even if you go with option two, what interest would fans of their team have if they are out of contention by Halloween?
Imagine if the NFL adds Week 0
The 18-game schedule could be happening by the 2027 season with two bye weeks.
When they go to an 18 week season, they would have to start the season on Labor Day Weekend.I just don’t see the NFL having the SB any later in February.
18 games, they need 2 bye weeks for teams, this would make a 20 week season. Start Week 1 Labor Day weekend and then Super Bowl is the 3rd Sunday in February and then Presidents Day the next day gives people the day off the day after the SB expect when the Super Bowl is on the 21st of February.
Hoping for a 162 game schedule like the MLB.
Since determining that they needed to "expand game inventory," the NFL has had some sort of plan behind it. Initially they tried playing 16 games over 18 weekends but got feedback from the networks that it was actually a step backward. The 18 game regular season schedule actually makes a 20 week schedule possible while satisfying the networks. I have never understood since 2002, for example, why the NFL's method of "bye weeks" (or if you're of the collegiate football mindset, "open dates"), hasn't been done division by division: the 4 teams of each of the NFL's 8 divisions all sit out the same weekend. With an 18 game schedule, they could re-introduce the dual "bye week" system, giving each division's teams two weekends off during the regular season while not diminishing regular season game inventory. The NFL needs to hire me. LOL
Brodie's not old enough to remember when the NFL had SIX preseason games, by the way.
Brodie, you have to stop being the voice of reason and logic in every video. It gives me false hope that leagues could actually implement these things.
Growing up the season was only fourteen games.
WHY THE FUCK SHOULD THEY PLAY MORE GAMES, FOR CRISSAKES? THE SEASON IS TOO LONG ALREADY. 14 GAMES WERE ENOUGH BACK IN THE DAY. YOU WANT THESE PLAYERS TO ALL LOSE THEIR MARBLES BY THE AGE OF 50?
I suggest everyone reads "The Decline of Sports" by EB White! Too much of anything ruins it, whether sports or anything else.
When I was a kid the NFL championship game was between Christmas and New Years. Why the hell do I want to see football for seven months out of the year?
I guess sports nuts like Brazil don't care whether there are more games. His brain isn't being scrambled by all the tackling!
I see that my comment was taken down. I've said that too many games leads to too many head injuries leading to too many ex players having their brains scrambled.
It's not a full week, but if the wanna continue with the usually terrible Thursday night games they could have teams play a Thursday night game then do tbe following weeks Monday game thats like 11 days invetween games, with no bye week idk
I found your channel a couple years ago from your DT770 Pro headphone review and I just want to say thank you because holy fuck these headphones are amazing.
How about 20 weeks with 2 byes
When will americans have enough nfl football? Its nuts how many nfl games there are already.
Sure, hold the Super Bowl the same day as the Daytona 500!
Are you SERIOUS?
DOES AN ODD NUMBER OF GAMES FEEL… ODD?

If you have week 19, you must have week 20. Two byes should be mandatory.
Between adding more games and playing games on Thursday, Sunday and Monday, the NFL risks watering down their product even further. The thing the NFL has always had going for it is scarcity via a limited regular season (Early Sept-late Jan), and only playing on weekends & one game on Monday. Thursday games, Sunday and Monday night games ruined that. Then they've gone from 14, to 16, to 17 games, and now they want 18 games and TWO bye weeks? The season will be pushed to late February, with spring just around the corner.
You want to leave fans wanting more…but not giving it to them to avoid oversaturation. Their greed will tune out the casual fans. The meathead diehards will love it, though.
Two bye weeks would have to be properly done so there’s no weird 2nd or 3rd week bye week right at the start of the season. But then when is it too early to have a bye week if there’s another one later in the season?
Brody, love your videos. But I hate to be the one to tell you but 95% of working class Americans don't get Presidents day off.
You think 4 weeks of preseason is too much. I am old enough to remember 6 preseason games (and only 14 regular season games). Now THAT was too much preseason!
I think the only way the NFL can get two by weeks to add a 20th week
The season is already way too long as is. 14 games was fine. Next you know the NFL will still be playing into March.
18 games in a 20 week season is fine by me. 18 games in a 19 week season is just asking for more injuries. Check out the CFL schedule. 9 teams, 21 weeks, 18 games. multiple byes. I know the CFL isn't as complicated as the NFL, but, IMO, a 20 week season needs to be looked at. I already figured out where week 20 comes from. Start the season on Labour Day weekend. WIth the advent of technology, most of us can watch a game from anywhere, not just our living rooms.
A reminder of the passage of time. I'm so old that I remember the switch in semantics from exhibition games to "Pre-Season" games. It was all to make these unwatchable, full priced rip-offs sound more enticing. Applying false value to what is essentially a scrimmage.
