RISE & FALL: Tyler Fitzgerald’s FUTURE | Giants DROP 4 STRAIGHT | Playoff Chances DWINDLE

RISE & FALL: Tyler Fitzgerald’s FUTURE | Giants DROP 4 STRAIGHT | Playoff Chances DWINDLE

That’s all she wrote. For the second time in four games, the Giants jumped out to an early 4–0 lead — only to watch it evaporate before fans could even grab a drink. Tristan Beck got through a clean first inning but gave up three runs in the second, and from there it felt like a script we’ve seen too many times. The game ended on a Casey Schmitt error that led to a Mets walk-off, sealing another gut punch for San Francisco.

Meanwhile, the Mets are finding their stride again while the Giants continue to stumble, still staring down a brutal upcoming Dodgers series. Maybe this collapse just fast-tracked reality — giving Buster Posey and the front office more time to take stock of where things truly stand. Because if the Giants had dragged this out until the very end, it might have given the illusion that they were closer to contention than they actually are.

From there, we dive into the “Rise and Fall” of Tyler Fitzgerald. After a scorching finish to 2024 where he hit 15 home runs in 96 games, Fitzgerald entered 2025 with big expectations. Instead, inconsistency and limited opportunities derailed his season. Now stuck in Triple-A with a .240/.308/.683 line, his once-bright role is fading. With service-time manipulation in play, the Giants gain team control through 2030 — but for Fitzgerald, the path forward is murky.

Finally, what’s next? With Justin Verlander starting against the Diamondbacks, the Giants get one last shot at staying alive before their trip to Los Angeles. But if they drop another, the season shifts from “push for a playoff spot” to “evaluate young talent.” Names like Jesus Rodriguez and even Patrick Bailey’s continued growth come into play.

  1. 1. Pitching sucks.
    2. No depth to our starters
    3. Bullpen with injuries was dusted.
    4. NO hitting
    5. Can’t score with runners in position.
    6. Our catcher drops every 5 pitches.
    7. Batting order makes little sense at times.
    8. Walker is the new Duval.
    9. Still no base stealing.
    10. Weak farm system

  2. Fitzgerald's experiencing a sophomore slump, because he set the hitting expectations too high for himself after a ROY type of season in '24. The party had to end sometime, but he'll comeback if he stops swinging at bad pitches and works on getting on base often.

  3. All the nattering nobodies want Melvin gone being unaware JV's having an amazing September giving the Giants a shot to stay in the race longer than they deserve. Giants record has to do with the pieces they still have not just the ones they traded away. Trading Doval and Rodriguez's injury is highlighting weaknesses in back end of bullpen along with oversupply of redundant position players who don't get enough playing time to prove they're here to stay.

  4. This team is literally a month to month, if not week to week dumpster fire. They suck more times than they swallow lol 😅 just horrible. I said it at the beginning of the season, ".500 team"

  5. I’m guessing he changed his swing and began trying to hit HRs, instead of just getting on base. There’s no excuse for not hitting singles and being able to use his speed and steal some bases. Wasn’t he supposedly the fastest runner in baseball at one time?

  6. The next 4 games at Dodger Stadium will decide the Giants season. If they can split, they have a chance. If not, it's over.
