Hopefully my favorite devils player Dawson Mercer has a big season coming because a lot of devils YouTube channels keep hyping him theses season which is annoying bc he really didn’t do anything season the 2022-23 season
20 goals, 45-55 pts would be good with me for the minutes he'll likely be playing. We'll see.

Mercer is one of the Swiss army knife players that every team needs. Hoping he is able to take that next step, but a pivotal part of the team regardless. Side note: @Ace I think you had the wrong mic chosen for this recording. Sound far away and warbly and I know that's not how that much should, and normally does sound

Bratt was still roughlyhalf point per game at this stage in his career. People forget that he's still young.
Wish he had better playmaking skills. That's what keeps him out of top-6. That could change. He's got great work ethic.
I had a feeling you were gonna drop a video today….my local ice rink had their first public skate of the season today…and it was all Devils fans today. Yeah I think Mercer has potential. 9 playoff points in 12 playoff games? Thats pretty good. .75 points per playoff game. He steps up in the playoffs…Mercer also is one of those type of players…he doesn't want to drop the gloves..but not afraid to do so if necessary.
Mercer is a Swiss Jack Knife type of player.

Fitz bolstered the bottom 6 and is counting on Jack to stay healthy and Mercer to step up.
Habs fans would be happy to have Dawson.
I want to see Mercer stay with the team, if possible. Maybe he can take over “best contract in the NHL” if he starts having career years. He is young, plays full seasons and doesn’t take dumb penalties. He has potential, maybe just needs the right line mates? Idk, but I’d keep him around. Maybe only trade if it’s a fleecing to the other team, other than that, I like the player. I was writing this as I’m watching the video. Glad you addd that he fought in that Rags game. He can show heart.
The Devils are expecting top 6 production from him and so are we. But Mercer is just a puzzle piece player. He's a perfect 3rd line guy.
Part of the problem is there has been no continuity as far as line mates and positions go. He's been bouncing across all 4 lines for 2 years now. I would like to see him on a line with young players like Lammikko and Gritsyuk. I think that would energize him.
Correct me if I'm wrong but he had that point streak while nico was injured and Jack was out for 6-7 games, he really stepped up.

Absolutely worth his contract. Very likeable kid and trustworthy to play any minutes asked of him. Would love to see Grits absolutely kill it with Jack and Bratt and Mercer to play consistently with Nico and Meier. That's a perfectly fine top 6 if the bottom six can support them. Let's go devils!

The DEI Development team turned little Dawg into Dawsun . You have him maintaining his .5 pts per game per season , well if he has another year like the last 2 that goes out the window . Although I appreciate his shot blocking his lack of hits counters that . His board work needs vast improvement
I like Mercer, I do. But the guy needs to step up and stay consistent. There’s been too many times where he’s out of position and it leads to a missed opportunity to score a goal directly or off a rebound.

i think everyone knows by now my opinion on mercer. i dont usually look at points assists and goals to have a opinion on a player. my opinion comes from watching them, i can respect the iron man thats awsome we need more players that know how to play a full season. but man i hate mercer. his shot is so inaccurate always hits the goalies chest 24/7. he always gets really good scoring opportunities and he always chokes so bad. and i dont really have any rememberable moments from him other than him flipping the puck into the air for the perfect pass to nico. i dont really think his defense first minded play fits with our dogwater bottom 6 that cant anything done. i think i would rather have someone that get get the puck in the net and lack a tiny bit of defense over mercer. if mercer can bury some amazing scoring chances ill be more happy with him but he disappoints me alot in the offensive zone
I am hoping for more from Mercer this year, its time for Mercer to live up to his contract.
I like mercer because from my amateur eye test, he's never invisible. He might not be putting up huge numbers but he's always around the play, always annoying the enemy at the very least. I dont know what the analytics say but i get the feeling that if luck just goes a little more his way, his numbers will be closer to what people expect. And even if not, he's still a player id rather have than not have

The one complaint I'll give his critics is he shies away from contact, kind of like Eric Dickerson used to be criticized for running out of bounds in football. If he was a bit grittier, he'd be a more talented version of Sergei Brylin. As you point out though, he's valuable for what he does and there's value in a guy who can play 82 games. I could see Dawson playing at a high level into his 30s because he avoids those hits. He could be putting up 40 points at age 38 and guys still complaining that he avoided a hit after dumping the puck in.
Need guys like Mercer to win- he’s probably not a top 6 but potential to play like one. Fans that are mad at him are being unreasonable. Consistency and availability.
Love his penalty kill! Was a great point streak in 22-23. Staying healthy is huge and give him lots of credit for doing so. I believe in Mercer, Fitz cleaning up bottom 6 will benefit the dawg. LGD!
If we are to make a big trade this season tho, Mercer will probably be part of the ask .. for a middle six player – on the wing – he serves his purpose. But will have to most likely lose him this season if we want to make a big improvement
I love Mercer, but I'm still afraid BoozeFace will tarde Mercer for cap relief. And before you so no chance, remember All of the terrible things Boozeface has done and said. Return would be draft picks. Boozeface will say'" We have created competition". Also Palat will be in the top 6 this year all year unless he gets injured.
Love me some Merc Dawg. Dawg on a bone kinda player, plays bigger than his size. Similarities to Nico & by no coincidence plays great with Nico & Timo. Keep him! He's gonna have a breakout season soon enough here. One of our best players in tight around the net too.

I think Dawson gets into the Super Sayian mode when the whole team clicks in and plays well. I think almost every game when they do play very well he also scores so you know his is part of the magic sauce.
