as an Oiler I view McDavid's statements contradictory. It is one thing to say 'we have CURRENTLY weakpoints, such as goaltending' and it is a totally different thing to say 'if there is a window we can win over and over again, then there is no problem signing'. A roster like Florida, where most. players earn around 8Mil, can be crafted for a few years to win 'over and over again'. A roster where the Oilerss have soon 4 players earning close to 50Mil, CANNOT be crafted to 'win over and over again' and McDavid is, just as management, part of the problem, cause he ain't taking some discount like Crosby, to enable further cap space for talent. Not saying he has to, but his expectation for 'over and over winning' is UNREALISTIC with the salary cap structure in Edmonton. Or his complaing about 'the aging roster',. Also contradictory, the team got younger, what does he want, a San Jose roster to never contend? You can't have highly paid talented experienced players and a non-aging roster, nor an over and over winning and the same time first drafts, the NHL is not allowing for such mechanisms. He can't pick 'highest salaries for him and few others, non-aging roster and 'over and over winning window', those stand all in CONTRADICTION.
