As a fan who has supported the Oilers for 25 years, I canāt help but be worried. Edmonton is known for slow starts, and if that happens again this season, the pressure will only grow heavier. With McDavidās contract still undecided, every loss could start to feel like more than just two pointsāit could feel like the future of the franchise slipping away. In that kind of atmosphere, the team might even struggle to stay focused and risk missing the playoffs, leading to a trade-deadline sell-off. From that perspective, it would feel much safer if the team already knew where things stand.
On the other hand, I understand Connorās point of view. He wants to win, and after years of disappointment, he has every right to take his time and see how things develop before making such a massive decision. By not rushing into a contract, he keeps the pressure on the organization to prove that they can truly contend. Itās a delicate balanceāwhat gives him leverage and protects his career also creates uncertainty for the team and its fans.
What a beauty. Gold metal and stanley cup, 100 pts, home ice advantage. expectations. No Pressure No Big Deal!
Curious the response to the question about what needs to happen to sign – ānothing⦠ā¦it will just be a feelingā¦?ā
That doesnāt seem to be the response to expect – if this decision is all about winning, having a complete team that is a Championship team would have been a more likely responseā¦
Who cares.
Oilers please dont let this go beyond Thanksgiving.
This is Marner 2.0 written all over it.
He's gone after this year.
There is more drama being created out of this than there needs to be . maybe he stays , maybe he goes , who really cares ? I 've followed the Oil from their inception into the league . There have been alot of highs and alot of lows . Here's a thought : Maybe they can actually win without the guy …
This is not looking good at all… The more I hear him talk the more im thinking he is leaving
Hes 100% moving elsewhere.cant believe it
He should come to Anaheim. Great Oilers players in the past have come to California and it all worked out.
Dang Iād be so sad if he left the oilers, but id understand if he did.
Kyle has truly been blessed with hair. Jealous
You did absolutely nothing in game 7 last year. Thats why hes so bitter
Connor is the complete package on and off the ice! Terrific player and a better person!!!
This is… so wild. Theres so much to unpack here with no clear answers. Can't wait for the media to talk about this all season and ignore everything elseš
Yeah sounds like he is gonna leave after this season unless they win
He says āfully prepared to win in Edmontonā not āstayā in edm itās pretty easy to read between the lines if bowman doesnāt put a team around him that can win very soon heās bouncing
Iām interested if oilers trade him at the deadline if they canāt get a deal done
I cant even sit through long enough to get to the relevant parts. These guys spending hours talking about Morgan Wallen. Go to a concert if you want to understand more about that guy. Lets talk hockey.
LFG!!!!!!! He's coming home
People think he's going to the Toronto Make Believes
2026 season is the last dance
What time is it?
5 past Skinner.
It is tripping me out how his eyes seem to blink independently of each other
Uh ohā¦Ć§a sents la fin
McDavid to Montreal. Hughes and Gorton have him on their radar.
Carolina is waiting CM97 š
Heās giving it one more shot then heās out
you should ask him what he thinks of the Oilers signing Arvidsson and Skinner on July first 2024, and then cornered, and losing Broberg and Holloway to the Blues. That's bad management to me, no wonder he wants to leave.
