Highly improbable without giving up roster players. Dach and Newhook are not likely worth much on paper to even remotely trade for (like a lot of noobs think would be traded). Avs have Necas and Lehkonen that could be possible tradable assets.
Mtl will not even inquire about Kaprizov. It is not their mode of opération. They don't want to spend too much on one player. They are trying to build a well balance team all around.
The Canadiens are not going to overpay for a player almost at the end of his career. He's off the books in Pitts for the 27-28 season and will be a UFA then. Wait!!!
Crosby is what 38 ? We are getting into major performance drop off territory. I get Howe played at 52 but that was also 1980. The game is different now. Even when Chris Chelios was still playing the game was different. I would not be opposed to Crosby on Montreal but the price to pay has to make sense.
I might trade for Nico Hischier before Sidney Crosby. Suzuki and Hischier in a 1 A 1 B top 6 format would give the Habs the needed depth over the next 10 years. Getting Nico Hischier extended 8 years 80 million would be ideal. Good luck, Montreal. 2026 could be a year of destiny…🍂
2 years on the back end of Sidneys career is not worth Hage, Reinbacher and Fowler. I mean, if Hughes is going to do something stupid, he should go full retard, give up Ivan, Nick, Cole, Reinbacher, Arbor, and Fowler, just to sweeten the pot, for one guy. Stupid is as stupid does, and trading away pieces that will be the back bone for the next 10 years is totally retarded. At a certain point, if Sid wants to play in Montreal he will demand it and the price should be a lot lower. Further, it is Hughes job to build MONTREAL, not Pittsburg via a moronic trade.

UPDATE: Bill Guerin came out denouncing the Kaprizov report. It's rare that Michael Russo and Joe Smith speak on false reports out of Minnesota. They posted an article responding to Frank Seravalli. So apologies for that. In our eyes, those guys were the best fact check other than from Guerin himself.

If Crosby goes anywhere, it is because he wants to win. So, he is not going to let the team that is acquiring him gut itself to get him as that defeats the purpose. Sure the Habs will have to give up something but a few second tier prospects and some picks makes the most sense

Only if Sid signed for a 2-3yrs extension. I wouldn't offer up that much if his plan is to only play out the next 2yrs and then retire. Of course you can't sign him to an extension until July 1, 2026, so that is the chance you have to take.
Then you can take you time with Hage. Bring him in and let him shadow Suzuki and Sid as the 3C. Once Sid is ready to hang it up, Hage moves up to the 2C role.
I wouldn't even entertain Flo Xhekaj being part of any package for Sid

Crosby wouldn’t cost nearly as much as many think he would. The guy saved the Pittsburgh franchise. If he says I’m going to finish my career to play for my favourite team growing up. Pittsburgh will grant that wish. He won’t be free but it won’t cost the farm either. 1st a 2nd a roster player(as a cap return) and a good prospect. This team is magic. Dont be surprised when Sid gets traded to the habs. He’s exactly what we need for the next 4 years.

Just take a minute and think of what the Pens need and what type of assets does Dugas usually look for and no it wouldn’t be as expensive as many of you think , Crosby is 38 and will lose a lot of value every month he spends with the pens , what if his production drops to 65 pts this year? It’s a real possibility as the Pens are a mess and old , another thing is Dubas isn’t the type of gm that likes picks judging from his passed work , also the Pens are definitely looking for a goalie …….so

I don't see Crosby coming to MTL. He could be traded to a cup contender, but MTL trading a young prospect for very little hope at maybe making the conference finals… not worth it.
We have so many players and so few spots. The Habs can only have 50 or so guys under contract which means players got to go. Just check this list of solid guys who may not fit in Habs plans but excell elsewhere. Beck, Engstrom, Struble, Roy,Bogdan konyushkov,Dubas, Matteson, Carrier, Newhook. Plenty of talent plus picks that would make a sweet package and could jump a restart a rebuild at every position with highly touted prospects and players with NHL experience but don't fit into the Habs future. Roy, Struble, Matteson,Dobes and a first and a second surly is enough for Sid. Hell pens can throw in a fourth rounder which Hughes can draft another Florian Xhekaj LoL 😂 Montreal is in such good position. Let's not forget Suzuki could be playing with Crosby at the Olympics for a gold medal. For Nick will be whispering in his ear " hey dude let's win some cups" will rub off pretty quick! 😜
