Let me know your expectations for the Leafs in 25-26
Did Florida or Carolina have any 100 pt players?no, and that was the semi finals in the east last 2 years, they relied on d and goaltending and a balanced team. Leafs will challenge for the division again seeing that d and g are the same and they have balanced the line up.
Are you just ignorant or just hate the leaf's? The leaf's 80% of the time lose to the cup champs or the finalists… especially in the last while. They also were the closest to beating Florida by far and only lost cause Florida concussed their goalie. They came closer to the team that has the 2 best players on the world?
I think the leafs will be fine this season. The team has more of an identity and have picked up some solid guys who are hard workers. Even if we don’t add a top 6 winger. We Just have to get rid of the dubas players kampf and jarny to free up cap. We can use that cap space and the picks we get for them for deadline acquisitions.
Honestly I think the Matthews health question is the only major one. If he’s healthy he won’t miss a beat – there is plenty of evidence away from Marner that proves he doesn’t need Mitch. In fact, I think the whole Marner loss is significantly overblown solely because we never relied on him to drive his own offensive line. If we had it’d be harder to recalibrate, but Knies and Matthews are going to produce on the top line regardless. Not saying you lose nothing from Marner leaving, he’s a very good player, of course there will be impacts, but I really don’t think it’s nearly the big deal people think it is. Same good D, Same great goaltending, Matthews, Nylander, JT, much improved depth (Macelli, Roy, Joshua, Laughton) and cap flexibility to keep making moves to improve.
On paper every line except line 1 improves most likely with the added cap flexibility and improved depth, and how much of a step back line 1 takes (if any) remains to be seen. Matthews scored 15 goals, and 27 points in just 20 regular season games between Domi and Bertuzzi (most of which time marner was out of the lineup) And Knies is a gigantic upgrade on Bertuzzi.
Also worth mention is that Rielly had a pretty lousy first half last year (new father, adjusting to berube, maybe fitness) and was much better in the 2nd. Full year of Carlo to aid the D.
My guess: They finish first or second in the division again.
Not saying Marner is telling 1000% truth but go listen to the sdpn podcast Jesse Blake seen the post and was around the team. It was taken down. However Marner and his camp routinely shoved threats at media members.
they'll be fine they have a good coach to see them through
I think the leafs will be great this season. Marner is not a GOD lol
People have to realize how hard their division is. Take a look at last 7 seasons, who was in the Stanley Cup finals. Last season, if Stolarz didn't get hurt. The Leafs would of won the series.
I think people are going to find out that losing Marner is not as big of a deal as it once seemed. It looks like they will be playing a different style. It'll be less successful during the regular season, especially early in while adjusting to it, but it'll be better suited to the playoffs.
(Then I realise the new system will fail because of the Leafs tax. They won't get the calls, or rather the non-calls, that American teams do.)
One thing that I think is over looked or understated with Marner's departure his his contributions on the PK.
Thank you man ! Love your content !
Joshua is another Knies.
Marner who?
Who cares.
Lears ate gonna be great.
it will very interesting to see how the Leafs do,post-Marner. They are still a very good team, making the playoffs should not be an issue.
LEAFS will NOT miss THE INVISIBLE Marner in the Lineup …THE LEAFS will be more powerful this season without Marner
Matthews scored 69 goals without Marner in his Line … Matthews will do BETTER without the INVISIBLE Marner
LEAFS will finish in the TOP 3 in the Atlantic
All we have to replace is 27 goals. Assists don't win games and never have and the hard part is scoring the goal. The goals are already covered in aces. Even with Mattews playing injured both linemates had career years. Averaged over a point a game and if averaged over 82 games is just short of a 100 points. Mattews also scores at a higher rate without Marner! The Leafs have got heavier, tougher, stronger and more balanced. They will be competing for 1st! I also expect for Mattews to make a statement and quite possibly beat his career high just to show up Marner and entice McDavid!
I like your take with Domi being the Winger on that Tavares Line but I would like Jarnkrok or McMann instead. But Domi with Tavares and Nylander would be great…The Leafs are still deep and I like all sorts of combinations with this team. It's easy when you have Matthews and Tavares in this setup. Domi would play right into Tavares' IQ and I think it could be a good synergy with Nylander. Whoever is going to get Tavares the puck in the slot wouldb e the best combination so I'd even like Domi, Tavares, Maccelli
If the Leafs could move from Kampf, Jarnkrok, and McMann, with either Benoit, Myers or OEL, and make room for some younger talent to rise up before it is too late; i think that would better round out the team for a deep cup run
Make me laughs fans guess what it’s not going to be this year again
Think they will do just fine but once playoffs roll around usually goes down hill from there but we will see
