Not very likely that Morgan Riely would be interested in going to Utah. He is a Vancouver boy. Not a serious discussion imo.
Morgan Riley is good, but he's not 7.5mil good… I don't think he needs to be traded. He needs to get off the first line and be better managed. Putting a guy in a #1 spot because of his salary and ignoring his play is ridiculous… Your trading an apple for an apple here.

Thing is the leafs don't have another guy on the back end that have the abilities or endurance to be a or the leafs #1 D-man, if the leafs were to put McCabe/Tanev or OEL in a top pairing spot they will get exposed and worn down by ploffs, it's up to how Chief deploys the pairings on the ice and where he puts them at that point in time, best bet is Rielly stepping up his game and getting back to where he once was as a skater, overall puck mover and I'm sure you and I both would like to see him be a bit better at defence but that's asking a lot out of one guy who's fresh into his 30's… also as a quick reminder the leafs back end is aging and could age fast over the next couple years😬
Rielly also has the final say in whether he wants to go and can give Treliving a list of whichever many teams he likes most as see fit, I doubt he waives it anytime soon as he recently finished a mansion in the city, has been here a long time, still wants to be a leaf for the time being if I remember correctly but ya never know…
I also doubt Craig and Treliving are ruthless enough to bench and sewer his career just for the sake of moving the dollars off the books so that they can begin looking at a different defender… but either way he's getting paid and still sees a future with the team and city so we as a fanbase should honour and rally behind him for his loyalty to the team and city for as long as he's wearing the blue and white because he's our guy and has been for over a decade now, we've gotta build him up from inside that building so he can play the the level he once did for us👍🏼
Morgan is a forward playing defense. You cant trade him so put him is as a forward instead. Offense goes up and just find a responsible d to replace him.
If you just look at his defensive skill he wouldn't make the nhl. But is a great offensive player

This is ridiculous … no way utah trades him unless he requests a trade, and that package is nonsense. If utah would do this it would be rielly, hildiby, another top prospect and a 1st which we dont have or a 2nd and Robertson
Sergachev would demand a price that the Leafs can't pay. Reilly would not be a starting point. Maybe Knies would be a player Utah would be interested in but the Leafs would need to add more.
The Leafs defence is old and slow and getting older and slower, so a trade for a younger defenceman makes sense.
